agreed - this is someone who was on benefits, probably quite rightly, and is now in a position where they financially dont need to be on benefits because they have money, so want to try to cheat the system to continue to get those benefits despite not needing them. Benefits are there for people who need them. You don't need them if you have £50k in cash. so how's about you don't claim them.0

If you have more than 50k in assets, would that make you eligible of benefits?"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

I've only just joined this sight but I'm saddened by the amount of advice there is on here for getting out of paying back loans, escaping parking and speeding fines etc.
I know the loophole needs to exist for people to bring it to others attention but it's sad the lack of accountability there is in society today.0 -

Quite a few places. You could even buy 2 for that money, if you want...

Or if you have some DIY skills and you don't mind buying at auction, you might even be able to get a whole BTL portfolio:

.....but possibly not if you were given 50k and chose not to notify the benefits department, use it to pay the bills etc and decided to buy a house instead.
Whilst expecting the benefits department to assist in paying for the bills etc that come with it.
OP doesnt respond with info to make informed responses0 -
