  • Welcome to the forum Southernbelle :hello:

This place is fab, you'll feel right at home.

Just a tiny word of advice - you say you have 1500 in the bank, why not clear that £400 Barclaycard debt? It would be one debt down and you'd lose the interest?
    Total debt £21,000
Weight loss to date - 2 st, 2lb:j
  • @chloebelle - I think that is minus £1500 i.e. overdraft

Hi can you not apply to another bank that agrees to match your overdraft and then use that to pay off smile and then pay back the new overdraft at a rate that is more sensible?

  • Thank you everyone, sorry for not reading the post for new users initially.

Here's a rough SOA, I'm away from my paperwork at the moment.

    Monthly Incomings:
Salary £1159 - this should be at least £200 but I'm on the wrong tax code at the moment. It is in the process of being sorted! I think I'll get at least £1000 back when it is fixed.:j

    Monthly Outgoings:
Smile O/D repayments: £600 for next 3 months
Subscriptions etc: £80 ish (changes every month)
    Mobile: £40
    Car Insurance: £35
    Petrol: £30
    Food: £40

    Debts:
    Capital One CC: £2000
    Barclaycard: £400
    Overdrafts Smile: £2000
    Natwest: £2000
    HSBC (account I use): £1500
    Student loan: £16,000

    :o
I know my monthly outgoings aren't that much, although the subscriptions etc can go up and down so I never really know how much they'll be. My aim is to get out of debt (except student loan) and begin saving money otherwise I'll never be able to buy a house.

Thanks so much for all the posts :)

  • OK, things I am doing to make a start (after reading some fabulous threads on here):

Have listed lots of books on Amazon. I figure I can buy lots and lots of books when I am rich after getting rid of my debt. ;)

    Have started saving £2 coins - have a grand total of £2 :D It's a start!!

Got out my copper pots. Have about £20 in there but don't ever have time to go to the bank so will save them up more and put them in when I have leave from work.
