Why start another thread when there are already hundreds if not thousands on this subject already on this forum.
You'll get the same people with the same arguments - just search the forum history.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -

Hello foxy2 and welcome to MSE (albeit how short that visit was)
Perhaps it would have been worthwhile you perusing this site before registering a forum user name to ask your critical question?

There is evidence to suggest that those who have water meters use less water. Those who have energy meters may become aware of the energy they use and use less. Quite small thing change consumer behaviour (think of the 5p on plastic bags).
There may be good reason to refuse a meter now as they often become dumb if changing supplier but I don't buy the sort of hysteria
manifested by OP. Eventually most people will change meter because the tariffs will be set so as to encourage that move and those declining will pay more as do the direct debit refuseniks today.0 -
I guess martin has bigger issues to fight.
At least you aren't directly paying money out for a smart meter.
I know we indirectly pay.0 -

So is foxy2 an existing user who has registered to do the post to allow the same old debate to continue.
It is effectively a spam post if the said user never returns0 -
Martin has made his money nowFeudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

Exactly. I watch my hosepipe usage as I am on a water meter. I watch my dryer usage, as I have seen exactly how much it increases my daily kW usage.
So smart meters can save you money. You could say why do they just not give you a little meter that you can connect to the live output from your electricity meter. However these do not work for gas.
My smart meter has also shown me how much my gas cooker uses as well as my heating.
If you do not like smart meters, then do not get one installed. However, do not knock it for the people who have gained the benefit.0 -
So how much have you saved? £10, £50, £100?
And how much will your bill go up to pay for the smart meter roll out?£10, £50, £100?
So in reality you've saved, well, anything?
