It appears that O2 and Vodafone are the best bets.

Its going to be difficult for anyone to give you any advice if you cant / don't answer their questions.

Looking at the respective coverage maps for O2 & Vodafone I'd say that anyone on the O2 network would work the best. There's a big dead spot on Vodafone to the East of the village so if they're on that side it'll probably affect them.

According to the MSE MVNO list that means either:-

    O2
    Major players:
    Giffgaff, Tesco Mobile, Sky Mobile
    Minnows:
    LycaMobile, TalkTalk Mobile

Of course they still (probably) need a new phone either unlocked or locked to O2 (all of the above will work in the phone)

    The big question remains.
Due to the varying info., I have receive from the various phone providers, HOW do I find out which network will give me signal at my home?

Have you actually bothered to read the replies?

Guess not as you don't answer questions!

So because of that this threads just goes round in circles.

OP, we are 23 posts in and you still haven't told us what network you are on! Impossible to help you unless you give the basic info requested.
The only 100% reliable way to test local reception is to use a free SIM from each of the 4 main providers in turn, minus your mystery existing provider . So the only ones you need to test are O2, Vodafone, EE and Three (minus your mystery existing one of course). Three won't work unless you have a 3G handset, which is why we need to know the model number (usually under the battery).
I suggest you go to your local independent mobile shop (not Argos or CPW) and seek their advice. There need be nothing long-winded about your issue, you are just over-complicating it.
Have you tried asking your neighbours or local friends what network they use?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
