Thanks - yes, I know what you mean about funny attitude: tight as I am with cash, I will spend if it is useful!
That said, I use Quicken 2000 because it still does exactly what I want, & try as I might (& every year or two I do a proper look!), I cannot find an easy equivalent, free or paid!

This thread is as much about hearing peoples views of such tools, as well as finding other ones I (& perhaps others!) are unaware of: I will probably give it a blast for a couple of months to see how it is: from the things described here, was yours (or Mallygirl?) equivalent to the 3/5 or 7 one?

Mine was between the 3 & 5. But with charts. I would say charts would be vital. So go for the £5.

That reminds me, there's a free version of MS Money UK kicking around the web somewhere. That has a life planner on it.

    Kicking around the web somewhere?

That sounds like a great way to get the computer which one uses for managing one's finances infected by malware!

Eh? Obviously you'd get it from an official MS source (rolls eyes).
I just couldn't remember what the link was.

I thought I'd seen a UK version but this US version might be ok

I believe it should work on Windows 10.

There's mention of the UK version with links here

The US one works fine on Windows 10 and you can change the default currency to UK £.
  • EvolveMyRetirement is far better than RetireEasy, much cheaper, and even starts as free. It's built around Monte Carlo simulation, and that makes a huge difference. What's the point of projecting into the future when so much is uncertain? EMR takes care of all that. And it self-optimises your strategy: seems like magic to me. I had a query about one of the tool's features, and their support team got back to me almost immediately with the help I needed.

It looks like EMR has been designed with professional advisers in mind, but made easier to use so that anyone can use it. Even me!

Am I the only one who has used this? I'm surprised nobody here mentioned it, even though it's apparently been around since 2014.

A most peculiar first post here....any association with EMR?!
Are you Nick?  There is no “about us”, and all blogs are by him.
Don’t get me wrong: the web page looks decent, I will take a close look over the weekend....just curious that there is no explanation who is behind it.....& this is your first post!
    Plan for tomorrow, enjoy today!
