Well this is still ongoing. Fourth engineer visit tomorrow but I doubt if that will change anything. From what I can see I suspect that Openreach botched the repair to the line last year but either can't or won't fix it properly.

If anything it is getting worse. last few weeks I haven't been able to get above 25mbps

So the engineer allegedly went to the exchange this morning but found nothing wrong. Why am I not surprised. Still getting poor speed between the hub and the exchange but according to openreach and BT everything is fine with no reason for the speed being low.

Or in other words, we don't know whats wrong and can't be bothered to find out.

BT and Openreach - utterly useless

Thought it was time to finally update this thread.

Another visit from the Openreach broadband engineer resulted in being told that the lines (old CCA cables) in the village I live in can only support up to 40mbs (stange comment when he tested both my neighbours lines and they were getting >60mbs and that I was getting over 70mbs before there was a fault).
He stated there was a fault in the line between to access holes in the pavement that if fixed, would improve things but would mean replacing that length of line and that they would not be doing that unless it failed completely.
BT decided then that instead of pressing for a proper repair they would just reduce my guarenteed speed to 30mbs,
Multiple complaints to BT were ignored - just recieved emails saying my complaint was closed with no other contact, So I decided to reduce my costs by moving supplier.  I chose Vodaphone due to price and as soon as I was connected to that I was (and still am 4 months later) getting 68mbs.  Looks to me like BT had throttled my line for some reason and just would not fix it.
I'm done with BT forever now and hope to never have to deal with openreach again, does a more incompetent bunch of liers exist in any business ?

You are of course currently using Open Reach infrastructure .

Yes.  The infrastucture that they told me cannoit support the speeds I get,  I am aware that until some alternative method of internet access (at a sensible price) reaches my area I am tied to openreach but hopefully will not have to deal with their incompetence.
