Not sure I would be confident with that rubber in a wet patch.0

So why not just post a link to the site, rather than the carp you're going to buy?0 -

They have a Suzuki Swift not a Koenigsegg.
If you cant control a 120 (at most) horsepower front wheel drive car on new tyres you shouldnt be driving.0 -

Vredestein Sportrac 5. Was 2nd place in Autocar tyre tests a few years ago and I found them as good as the Dunlop Bluresponse that replaced them but for 2/3 the price of the Dunlops. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Vredestein Tyres are excellent, talking from experience I have used their Sportrac, Wintrac and Quatrac (3&5) models.
There are some excellent "mid range" brands, Nexen, Hankook, Khumo, Falken.
You won't benefit from paying for a premium brand.0 -
Depending on where you live Michelin Cross Climates are a good all weather choice if you tend to get snow in winter. I live on the outskirts of Sheffield and we get snowed in once or twice a year. Cross Climates have coped with everything the weather has thrown at me0

https://www.blackcircles.com/order/tyres/search?width=185&profile=55&rim=16We need 4 new tyres for our Suzuki Swift
At the moment - it has Continental 185/55 16's
What are our best option tyres - cheap or expensive ?
I see that most tyre companies are now stating "summer" and "winter" tyres
What should we be looking for ?
Black circles want about £95 per (conti) tyre - fitted !!
Of that lot, I'd be looking at the Toyos if price is a priority. Other than the Avons, they're the only ones cheaper than the Contis that I'd even go near.
Summer tyres are what we've always known as "tyres" in this country.
As tyre compounds and tread designs have become more complex and specialised (focussing on grip or rolling resistance), their cold-weather performance has dropped right off, even on dry tarmac. So all-seasons and winter tyres are different compounds and tread designs to move some of that priority back to colder weather grip.0 -
bhp is irrelevant during braking or cornering, cheap tyres suck at both, especially in the wet.parking_question_chap wrote: »They have a Suzuki Swift not a Koenigsegg.

Currently on Kumho now both on my MX5 and Monde, can't wait for them to get down to 3mm on the Mondeo at which point they'll be replaced with Michelin Crossclimates. Grip is good, wet handling good, stops well but man the noise the tyres make. Its not an issue on the MX5 as I have the roof down but in the Mondeo there's definitely more tyre noise than the Dunlops and the Vredestein.
Remember when you're looking at the dB level for noise that dB works on a logarithmic scale so an increase of 3dB is a doubling of the noise, an increase of 6dB is a fourfold increase. Likewise a 3dB decrease is a halving of the noise. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
