I seems in hindsight asda shut down the voucher print page so they could update the apg vouchers with the new terms for 3rd oct .
  • So in summary, where are we with the clear as mud Asda APG closing statement "We want to let you know that we've decided to close Asda Price Guarantee from 3rd October 2018.
You can continue to check your shop as normal here until the 3rd of October, and you'll have 28 days after you check to redeem your voucher ?
    "

    1) I've printed today (Mon 24/9/18) an APG voucher from a 28/7/18 receipt (price compared later that day) that says its expiry date is 22/10/18. As far as we know now, will this after 3/10/18 date be honoured ?

    2) When is the time of closure ? ie. Can I still generate APG vouchers actually up to 23:59 on Wed 3/10/18 ? If so the last expiry date will be Wed 31/10/18 ?

    1) The only place that I have seen saying that pre-existing vouchers will not be honoured after 3rd October is the MSE article. MSE says this has been confirmed by ASDA but if that is the case it contradicts everything on ASDA's own website.

If ASDA fails to honour vouchers up to the expiry date printed on them then there will be outrage.

03/10/18 ends at 23:59:59 but it would be unwise to wait until the last moment in case the website fails during last minute rush.

If the 28 days includes the day that the voucher was produced the expiry date may be 30th October.

Which all makes sense so heres hoping we have till the 31st oct .

At this point I assume its as said above but the staff are the next hurdle some will just be differcult..... more so than at present .

I used the self service trolly checkout (not sure of its proper name) but using 7 apg,s it ended up freezing and taking my coins with no change .
This was early morn hours and staff in this case were excellent but had to shut the trolly self serve tills down except one and open a checkout .
A more senior chap gave me change in my hand from his pocket
All this was only for £3.23 x 7 apg
Partly my fault as I forgot my credit card in the early morning hours

I chatted with the staff member he said said sometimes the self serve tills freeze kind of like a old laptop without enough ram or cpu or similar if one was to draw a laymans analogy of sorts .

I read it that you can only print off vouchers from receipts up till midnight 3rd oct then no more vouchers will print off from any receipts .....at all !

So print vouchers off your receipts before midnight 3rd Oct .... then spend them until max voucher end date or .final end game date of 31st Oct.
Which if YOUR voucher was printed on the last day or min of 3rd oct .the end game will be 31st oct 28 days later.
Other than this assumption its apg game over for this xmas .....unless they bring out something new and different .

    Just to confuse matters further...

I have just performed an APG check on my recent delivery and it said that it could take up to 7 days for the e-voucher to be credited to my account. The APG Ts&Cs say "You have 28 days from the date you received a voucher after an in-store shop, or from the date your e-voucher reaches your account to use the voucher. "

So for APG checks done on 3rd October for a previous delivery, depending how quickly an e-voucher is issued, it could be up to 35 days later that the last e-voucher is valid.

It makes sense to use the lager APG's you have by 3 October, so if the ill-informed staff at Asda stores stop taking them after 3 October, even though their website says you can and the date on the APG will still be valid, it won't be so much of an issue to your pocket.

Recently trying to use or get rid of alot of smaller apgs at the self service has resulted in the machine freezing the transaction and having to be mothballed as it couldnt be used .

The transaction then needs a supervisor and cash finish attracting alot of attention .
Seems 4 or 5 apgs are ok maybe 6 but around 7 8 9 10 apgs the self service computor memory or processor or some thing techy blows a fuse and completely freezes up the self service. machine

This happened on two seperate occasions and two stores both times one apg came up invalid so this possibly could have triggered the meltdown either that or both the invalid apg and using too many apgs has frozen the self service ..

Doesn't matter how many APGs are used in one transaction as long as it doesn't exceed the total cost.

Some stores SS will freeze when using a combo of scanning and manual entering. Stick to manual entering only at those stores and you won't have a problem.

In reply to Wheres my cashback

Ok what I did at the two self service tills in two stores that froze the SS was scan the apg first then enter the receipt number manually.
Which you mention and did cause the freezing issue also this is very time consuming and differcult to read the receipt numbers when doing a number of apg,s ......

So what your saying is dont scan the apg or scan the receipt at all ....at self service?
    Is this correct ?

If I understand correctly your saying enter the apg number manually as well as enter the receipt number manually ?

If so how do you go about entering the apg number manually and not scanning the apg.... is this possible ?
I Assume you then after that enter the receipt manually .

Since Im a apg self checkout newby with only 3 weeks or so to go with apgs I need to know how to use the self service effectivily .
One store stopped me last sunday mid way through saying not to do it for what ever reason it wasnt going to work ,the lady was fine but was acting on her instructions from above .

So now will try another store which you mentioned so obviously are in the know .
