You are not wrong, and we are a bit too pedantic but bear with us, maybe it's the pedantry that makes us good at what we do!

One of the problems of online forums is the lack of pitch - being able to judge from facial expressions whether the advice is being pitched correctly. So though it is annoying bare with us and we'll get you through to the end. It is one of the best places for advice.I didn't park in the car park but apparently drove passed a camera that is sited on a road near the car park (not at the entrance). I asked for evidence and they sent me two pictures of my car going along an unmarked unidentified road.
If you have a moment or two, have a word with your local Highways authority. If CEL's cameras are pointing on the road you won't be the only one and Highways may know of it. Ask them to refer the issue to Trading Standards too.
There have been the odd case here and there where misaligned cameras do this and the parking companies knowingly allow the tickets to be issued until the council stops them so if you can take a minute, you could save lots of people some grief.
Once you have done it, send a letter to CEL confirming the same and put a copy of the letter into your defence too. CEL usually drop cases so the letter will just speed up the process. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Yes, you are probably right - I am appreciative of the advice and will take it however I thought that these forums were here to help. I don't find being treated like a stupid child helpful even if the advice is sound. If someone asked me for help, which they frequently do, I would always treat them with courtesy and respect. In my opinion it's time that someone flagged this up.
Where has anyone been discourteous to you,?
You came here for advice and was given sound advice based on whether or not you had identified the driver yet ignored it.
No wonder we are seen sometimes as being pedantic. Not treating you as a child but if someone takes time to point out your error and you ignore then expect a degree of irritation!
Why didn't you bother editing your OP as advised?0 -
I don't want to get into an arguement with you - this isn't what I came on this forum for. In my opinion one or two of the responses were very abrupt and discourteous and I chose to comment on this. I see that I'm not the only one that is spoken to in this way but other posters seem to accept it without comment - I don't. Respect and good manners cost nothing.
If the price of requesting advice on this forum is to be criticised for making unintentional mistakes then so be it but I'm not impressed. There have been other replies that have been helpful without being patronising.
I thought I had edited my OP - did you think I ignored the advice just to be awkward? If I was speaking to someone face to face and they were as abrupt as some of these replies have been (including yours) I would ask them why they found that necessary.
I have been on the receiving end of bullying, false accusations from CEL for over a year now - I know that they are trying to frighten me into paying and I am not intimidated just pig sick of it and want it to be over.
A rule of thumb when trying to help someone who is confused is to, initially, make the advice a simple as possible, this will give them confidence and they will be better equipped to understand the more complex aspects of the advice. Criticizing people for making genuine mistakes or not understanding only serves to alienate and/or confuse.
I am not sure why you felt that you had to administer another slap on my wrist????0 -
PS I have checked back and see that I did edit my OP - You don't know what I had written before I edited it so, for some reason best known to yourself, you chose to censure me for not "doing as I was told"0

We can all see it wasn't edited any time after the need to do so was advised !0

What was not simple enough for you?A rule of thumb when trying to help someone who is confused is to, initially, make the advice a simple as possible,
This is what you were advised (and why!)
Did you tell them who the driver was?
If not you need to edit your post to remove details of the driver
The ppcs monitor here and can use your posts against you0 -
Thank you for your reply. I did some checking with the local authority a couple of months ago and was told that the road beyond the camera is private property belonging to the Hospital and administered by CEL. There is a sign on the camera post stating that it is private property and that terms and conditions are displayed in the car park. My defence has, in part, been that as my car did not enter the car park then no contract was entered into nor broken. No evidence of my car entering the car park has been provided.0

This is ridiculous. Whatever you say (are you using the Royal "we") I did edit my OP and since your recent comment I have gone back and edited it again.
I'm not going to reply to you again - your comments are merely criticism not advice - you might spend your life trawling through these forums to tell people off but I have better things to do than argue with you0 -
The telling off was you telling me off!I'm not going to reply to you again - your comments are merely criticism not advice - you might spend your life trawling through these forums to tell people off but I have better things to do than argue with you
Remember?A rule of thumb when trying to help someone who is confused is to, initially, make the advice a simple as possible,
All I did was point out the advice I gave you was simple/polite/explained!0
