This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.

Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each year). They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct

Hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned.

The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the House of Commons recently

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by Christmas.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
  • ok, thanks, but what about my query post 21 -

on the popla grounds for appeal page, what is the Other Grounds for appeal ( Appeals based solely on the following grounds for appeal are less likely to be successful) for

Just tick the 'Other' box - standard forum advice, no one has suffered as a result.

What does it mean? Who knows, it's just a 'catch-all' I guess. Only POPLA (or more likely the BPA who gave them the categories) will know exactly what they were thinking about.

No need to scratch your head any further.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

    No they are not!

It is shocking that POPLA retain that lie, fed to them by the BPA, we believe. Guess what?

That misleading statement was there BEFORE this POPLA service even received a single appeal...
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Please Explain your reasons for appealing the parking ticket, (2000 letters), can i put - something like Driver pulled into car park to pick family member up, as the main road is a fast 30 mph one way street, did not get out of car, didn’t see any signs (there isn’t any where the driver was positioned when entered).

    Type of document: Other
    what is the Appeal: Appeal

How does it support your appeal: The pdf document list and shows evidence to suport my appeal against the pcn which was issued to vehicle ****** on the date

sorry if it is already posted, this will help people like me in the future who are searching for some simple answers.
  • You do not put ANYTHING in that box OTHER THAN "Please see my appeal uploaded as file..."
Otherwise they will ignore your appeal file, and just reject your summary appeal.
  • Phew... thanks very much for that

Hi, received ECP evidence, ok have 7 days to respond . looking at their evidence they sent a lot of photos, they sent a copy of the car park which has been taken from google maps, just compared it, they have just added a few points like The PCN (NTK/NTO) has been checked by Solicitors who specialise in assisting private car park operators – legal advice and pre legal advice with regards signage and adhering to POFA and both code of practice blah blah, i am going to scour the site now, dont want anyone to tell me what to do but can anyone point me in the right direction to start to reply, Thanks

yes, read through their evidence pack and make a note of anything they have failed on , or they have not contested

landowner contracts, signage, POFA2012 , NTK , anything at all

also read a few recent 2018 popla rebuttals so you know what has worked for others

bear in mind you only have 2000 characters for the rebuttal portal, so not many words

I will start you off with post #51 in this thread
