Mine was £34.99 and that was 6 years ago
Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

This is a good site. Get the girl to pick the ring (most of them btw £300-500) then the bloke can pick the diamond/cubic zirconium/plastic to go with it.
Can't believe I am shaming my sex and given men awful ideas.0 -

Well she said "yes"!
Got to admit I'm feeling a bit guilty now, logged on this morning and saw this thread.

Checked back just after posting my alternative "request"
Sort of puts our (my/our?) plans into a different light
Still, thanks all for your replies, maybe bricks and mortar is better0 -
Ring pull from a Coke can & save the £$£$£ for house deposit/mortgage repayments!!
Or if it must be a 'valuable' ring, antique jewelers, rather than mass produced, shop stuff.
Think that would represent better value for money.!!

Slinky wrote:Off topic a bit but the above started me thinking.... Personally, I've never understood this thing about "we're going to get engaged on such and such a date". What's the point of it. There's no suprise, the answer to the question is presumably already known. My other half proposed last week and we consider we were engaged from the point I said yes. When I told my neighbour my OH had proposed, she said 'are you going to get engaged?' Eh? I thought we already were!
No disrespect to you or your other half or anybody else who has done things like this, but I'm never understood this concept!
Congratulations on your engagement
I totally agree, the date of the proposal is the date your engagement started!
Anyway, just because I had an idea what the ring would be like, doesn't mean I knew when DH was going to propose! We had gone to the jewellers to see what sort of thing I liked, with a view to DH going back to pick something with a better idea of what I would go for but ended up going as far as designing it that day.
I still didn't know when he would propose, and it was a big surprise that he did it when he did. I guess that yes, he did know what my answer would be (we had been together 4 years) but that didn't stop him wanting to ask, and to make the proposal a special occasion for both of us

Thanks
Just started to make some enquiries about organising the wedding. OMG I got a brochure through from a country house, who insist you pick things from their wedding breakfast menu for a minimum value of £39.70, you have to have an evening menu (£15 min) and drinks package (£15.50). Minimum of 80 guests and room hire is a bargain £500. Cripes, that's over £6K already!! Don't think we'll be going there - dont want to be dictated to on my wedding day thanks. Plus I couldn't even find anything I liked for the main course and I'm not THAT fussy.Make £2025 in 2025

Hi,
Do what we did, book cheap flights to Dubai....... Gold Souk ..... Sorted.0 -
Mine is the cheapest of all.
I dont have one!
Okay - so sometimes I sit and think that I would like one, but we had better things to spend the money on at the time.
My hand is very pretty and looks elegant with long fingers, long nails and just a plain white gold band.
Okay - so the real reason I dont have one, is that hubby and I did things a little squiffy - had 2 kids first, house etc.
Then one day the old romantic in him said "Maybe we should get married - what do you reckon???"
The old romanitc in me had the venue and reception booked within a week before he could change his mind or buy a ring!!0
