Frankly the headline speed is a red herring , you could have a 200GB broadband but if there's no capacity to the network from the exchange then it's pointless. Id rather have stable 40gb with ample pipeline infrastructure behind it .40gb is the accepted standard requirement for ultra HD TV streaming so it's adequate and future proofEx forum ambassador

Have you gone through the 'Thinking of Leaving' option on the phone ... (I assume that still comes up?) That should get you through to 'Retentions' I think and cut out all the other rubbish!0

Just for anyone hoping to do this today- the telephone number appears to be struggling, nothing connects at all, it beeps once and closes the call. I’m having lots of poblems with Virgin, too: intermittent broadband disruption for months, noise or party lines on the ‘phone, and to top it off no internet at all since 23 August! Had to travel to son’s to check in online for my hols last week, and to complete and send a job application, cos both are online only nowadays!
So tmpting to just cancel my bill, but holding fire to give them one more chance to sort it all out. Phone data through the roof, even though I’m being careful!July 2024 GC £0.00/£400

As others have said, don't just cancel your DD.
Keep trying via your house phone on 150 and the various prompts, the retentions team are there until 10pm.
I rang up on Sunday to register a cancellation of services due to my contract expiring and bills increasing.
Had to call back on Monday to register it again as the retentions department finished at 6.00pm on sunday.
However, what surprised me was I was offered a deal that was cheaper than last year with no loss of services. It normally takes 3 to 4 calls from retentions to me to get anything close, this is after me having a cancellation date.0
