Down in Cornwall and Devon it is comparatively very laid back, people will not rush around just because you click your fingers at them.

Too right. My plasterer is a farmer too, so if I want him, I book in spring and see him when things slack-off a bit in the autumn. Even then, he may just disappear for a day due to a crisis with an animal, or TB testing etc.

His bill then takes a good few months to arrive.

Longest I've waited for a bill here is 2 years, but that looks like it will be exceeded soon. We are still debating the value of three telegraph poles. If I pop my clogs, he'll be sorry!:rotfl:

My own council no longer deal with wasps
They refer you to use one of the many local commercial pest control companies.

I get wasps in my loft every year as they crawl under the tiles and being an old house with original roof there is no felting under the tiles - just mortar sealing the joints.
I clear the nest out every year in November -ish timing depending on the temperature as other have said.
Personally I've never had any problem from the wasps.

so you have assessed it is a serious problem for you, you know how to cure it, by getting in a pest control person, but instead you spend time wailing that it is someone else's responsibility to solve for you. Just do it yourself and act like the leader of your family since you say it is a family emergency.

it's clearly not that simple as multiple people in this thread have advised that sorting it without my LL's permission would be wrong given it's on his property, and some people would find the trespass extremely annoying.

Respecting my LL's property, my relationship with them, and not trespassing supersede my need to chest-thump and declare myself a leader. If LL had refused maybe it would have been necessary, but thankfully that was not the case.

    Thank you!

That is farmer's for you, they always have loads going on and get around to non-essential tasks as and when they can. It'd probably take him another 3 years to notice that the bill hasn't been settled!

Anyway, I won't be replying to further comments as the issue is resolved and this thread is already 2 pages longer than it needed to be.

Thanks for all of the replies.

Just to add that I spoke to the wife of a pest controller yesterday, he has dealt with more wasps nests this year than the previous 3 put together.
