Sorry I did not see anywhere where you said Android, and took it as a windows one. I see arciere subtially mentioned it on #18

other can easily steal your computer id and mimic your device. Also if there is another person on that shared network segment, it could be easier to isolate the segment. I am not blaming you :)

You have tried a long finger press on he wifi button which brings up all the wifi networks and allows you to select the one want?

No worries, sorry i thought i had explained.
So can i do anything with my lenovo android tablet or do i have to try a reset or return to manufacturer

    What I would do:
    - Check that it is not using a static IP address (you should be able to check this by tapping on the network it is connected to, and then make sure that the IP is set to DHCP and not Manual). This is probably irrelevant as each wifi network has its own settings, but it's worth checking
    - Forget all known networks. You will obviously need to re-enter your home network password
    - Next time you are having trouble connecting, see what happens if you connect to the network and then try to open a web page on Chrome. If you get an error message or code, take a note of that.

arciere I have seen seasoned pros mix up the gateway and ip, more than once too.
Of course, but I think you misunderstood what I was saying. When OP asked, I replied "Not really", what came after should have probably been preceded by 'although, IN THEORY, someone COULD etc etc'. It was not a suggestion, just a technical explanation, I was just saying that, if that happens, someone could still be able to connect IF...
  • I couldnt get the tablet to work. So I did a full reset. Still got the problem. Contacted Lenovo technical who are not sure either why it is won't work.
They are going to come back to me when they have time to find out what to do. I will post the outcome in case this happens to someone else. I do hope it's fixable and not a return to Amazon.
