It's possible that the lost card was found by the person who did the fly tipping and possibly tried using the points on it? Upon finding that the card was not useable then dumped it with the rubbish.

While on the subject, if you have rubbish removed from your premises make sure the person/company that removes it has a waste licence otherwise this could be you next.
Or maybe they tried buy 20 cases of Budweiser and 50 cans of tomato sauce but couldn't because card was reported stolen.

It is clear to me the OP is innocent of this offence as fly tippers, by definition, give not one damn about anyone but themselves. The Chav from Hell next door fly tipped in the past; OH took pictures of it right the other side of her garden fence, which backs on to public land; nothing was done but then, this council redefines useless.

Anyone with a conscience does not fly tip in the first place, let alone brick it when they are invited to an interview about it, imho of course.

OP, I hope you come back and tell us the outcome; I wish you the right one.

P.S. Did Brekke's queen not die and leave her a basket case?

Even before notifying us of the outcome, I hope the OP comes back and tells us what the union solicitor advises.

The union solicitor hasn’t phoned me yet (surprise surprise!) but I will update once they do on advice given.
At the moment I will attend the interview as I’m innocent but I will just tell them that the card was lost and not in my possession for the week leading up to the fly tipping. It’s up to them to prove my guilt and if all they have is my old Costco card and a letter addressed to someone else 2 miles away how is that proof ??
Obviously if solicitor advises me differently then I will follow the legal advice.
I’m sleeping easier knowing that’s all they’re going on
    Thanks for everyone’s input

Have you contacted Costco? Perhaps they'd put it in writing the date you informed them that you'd lost the card.

Ah but I had lent the card to my daughter who had promptly misplaced it

The Costco card on its own is not going to be enough evidence to support any charge, but the environment team will follow up any lead they have - based on the comment above you can't give any evidence that is was lost - as you didn't lose it. All you can say is you lent it to your daughter.

They may then decide they would like to speak to her.

Probably depends on how they get on following up the details on the other letter.

As an aside, why would you lend the card to your daughter? It's photo ID to only be used by the card holder.

IF you reported it lost then, as I said before, ask Costco to confirm this in writing. If the dates tally then you should be in the clear.

The OP appears to have got themselves banned from MSE for some reason, so I doubt we'll ever know.
