Falsely accused of fly tipping

In the event that this doesn't go away, when you stand there in front of the magistrate protesting your innocence, the question that's going to be asked is "If this is genuinely a mistake, and you genuinely did not dump that rubbish with your name and address on, why did you not take the opportunity to explain that to the police at the time you were first asked?" - and that's going to be a difficult one to answer, isn't it?
You could ask, why didn't the police bother to give OP more information?0 -
If what you say in the interview helps your case, then there won't be charges brought...
You really think so?
You think that the average person, whom has probably never been interviewed wont say something incriminating?
Please.
People get nervous having job interviews, I suspect the prospect of prison is more nerve racking for the average person.0 -

If it's on public land it's the council that first deals with it. If it's private land, then the council has no liability and the land-owner has to deal with it, possibly informing the police.
When it happened on our field where animals graze, I found enough inside the bags to ID the person that had owned/filled them. However, the time and manner in which they were deposited soon led me to realise that they'd been picked up overnight, pre-dustcart, and used to give us some grief, with no thought to the consequences for the original owner, who was female/elderly. So, although we told the police in case it happened again, the owner of the rubbish didn't find out.
It could have been a different result if the perpetrator had changed his mind and thrown them on the council verge instead.0 -
Wow thanks for all your replies just reading in my break as at work. I have discovered it is regarding a large amount of building waste and my lost Costco card was found along with a letter addressed to someone else who I assume has also been called. This waste was dumped on public land by a builders truck on the night we returned from Greece. We have not had any building work. I am a district nurse and my husband a postman so our proffessions do not incriminate was us. We only have one car and I reported the card lost too. I can’t see how they can pin it on me ? A lost Costco card cannot be proof I did it which I 100% didn’t. I will take my holiday booking with me and any other evidence. I feel a bit better at the moment as a costco card cannot be their only proof for the case. I’m also waiting for call from my union solicitor which I found is free. Can’t beleive the stress this has caused me. Thanks again everyone.0

Whilst I sympathise with you OP, I'm also pleased that at least one council takes fly-tipping seriously and makes efforts to identify the culprits and, where successful, prosecute them.
Hopefully in your case you'll be able to satisfy them that you were elsewhere at the time, and that their only clue had already been reported missing, and that will be the end of it for you.
Hopefully too they will have some other evidence to point them towards the genuine culprit,0
