I had a reply from my water company about the bills. I'm quite impressed as it was fairly comprehensive. They estimate that if we switch to a water meter we'd save about £1 a month, so it's not at all worth it
It really makes me want to cry when I see people paying £30-£40 a month for water and ours is double that!
I had a meeting in town this morning and so managed to use my voucher for a free jacket potato from when I was slimmer of the week. It was very nice and a free lunch is always :money:
My gain last night was only 1.5lb so not as bad as I was expecting.
I'm now selling a few things on eBay so pleased about that"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
 to your water bill. Blimey that's high.
Ooh I love a jacket potato. It's one of those meals I don't often think to make, but you can't beat a jacket potato with beans and cheese.
Good luck with your eBay listings. You're doing brilliantly.

We pay nearly £100 a month for water Jwil because we're with South West Water and they have the highest charges in the country . We have to pay to keep all the beaches clean
.
BT are awful aren't they? We left them because they wanted to practically double our montly charge and when we did leave we were in credit with them .
I hope you get some more ebay sales soon.

We are now paying £57 a month for water starting from April, with Severn Trent. There are only the 2 of us. Might look at if its better to have a meter. DD has one and pays a lot less and they are a family of 5. We looked at the option before but as OH had a Koi pond in the garden and used to change the water often, I didn't think it would be cheaper as we were using a lot. Thinking of filling the pond in this year, so may be worth it. We also like to have a bath quite often which I know uses a lot, where as DD has had her bath taken out and just got a shower....I could never do that.....lolDMP 2015 £57,549, now £36,112 (37% paid)
EF £200 Mortgage OP's this year £115

It's crazy high
I'm not a massive potato fan so don't make them that often. But yes, it's a nice cheap, satisfying meal!

It's ridiculous isn't itI don't think Wessex Water are far behind south west water.
I've never had an issue with BT until now. Ironically, part of my complaint was that they are using the wrong name. They've acknowledged my complaint under the wrong name  Shows how much they are reading!Lifeisforliving19 wrote: »We are now paying £57 a month for water starting from April, with Severn Trent. There are calculators you can use where you input the number of baths etc you use each week and it will tell you whether you can save by switching. I prefer a shower to a bath, but I wouldn't like to be without a bath.
We used to pay £35 when we were on a water meter before, but that was just the two of us in a smaller house, with no kids, us both out most of the time, and a lot less washing! We aren't too excessive with water, but we definitely use a lot more than then!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do".
