We always had to clear our toys before Christmas to make room for the new ones. Mind you I only had a kitchen type cupboard for them and everything had to fit in it except things like dolls pram and dolls house. That was back in the late 1950s and chidren didnt have as much plus my Dad was in the RAF so packing up was always imminent.

I totally agree with you gemini. I would want to do this but DH does not agree. I will encourage them to get rid of some though. They have too much and can't play with it all properly so it's pointless.
You're doing so well Jwil, very organised and on top of things :T.

Thank you, I feel more organised than in previous years!

Another cash out from PA yesterday and a payment from PC as well.

Has anyone else found they've started being screened out of p*necone surveys now? They've changed it :(

Little miss was complaining about tummy ache this morning, I'm hoping she was just hungry and it's not anything else. She certainly ate a big breakfast!

  • Well done on the cash outs :)

I'm not on PC :( I've never been accepted

Hope Little miss is okay and it's nothing brewing

I hope it's nothing for her too. Youngest has had a bad tummy and diarreah now for over a week. So frustrating. Can't keep up with the washing :(

Still sounding lovely and bright jwil. Using nice words to describe your home. From the sounds of it I think you've made more progress this year than last and in large part down to hubby getting on board. It won't be long now. You'll be in some minimalist catalogue.

I agree with you - clear out BEFORE Christmas. So that all the other children will get toys for Christmas too. I'm now into the hundreds of tiny bits stage of toys. So we've bought a trofast from Ikea. A draw for lego and a draw each. Then the thin trays for pens, pencils and colouring books. I don't know if it goes that way for boys too.

Keep up the great work xxxx

Hope youngest is better soon. I'm not a good nurse and bugs are the worst :(

You are right, I do feel much happier. I think we've just got to the stage where things are making a difference now, rather than just reducing the piles. DH has made an effort and still has a long way to go, so I hope it continues. I don't think we'll ever be in a minimalist catalogue though as DH still likes his stuff :D

Little jwil is mostly into his Lego and he has storage boxes for those. The rest of the toys are in Kallax type units, but we've still got a lot of bulky stuff from little miss. So we've got a mixture of big and little. They do need to reduce it though, there's just too much, especially with what's coming at Christmas.

Has your front room improved at all yet?

Only 3 more days and then 2 weeks off :T :T

I relisted lots last night, it will go out on Christmas day. Today I'll relist the rest. While I'm off I want to have another go through my stuff. I've never started photos etc, so I need to do that next year. There's a Marie Kondo series on Netflix in January so I'm going to get the free month's trial so I can watch it and see if I can persuade DH to watch it too.

I am going to a Slimming World meeting this week. I decided it's time to do it, and with the nursery bill going down I should have a bit more cash available. I'm going to set myself a target of losing 2st next year. It's a drop in the ocean as to what I do need to lose, but it will be a start and if I do it slowly it's more likely to stay off. I might not continue to go to the meetings as it is a lot of money, but I'll see what they are like.

I need to sort out my budget and think about my plans for next year. It's just going to be another year of treading water with the debts while I try and get everything else organised and get an emergency fund together. I want to get the house money sorted too, so that's there if we need it.

Ooh I must watch the Marie Kondo series as I haven't read the book. Well done on the ebay listing marathon :T.

I agree about losing weight slowly. You need to develop permanent changes in diet rather than quick fixes. I've lost loads of weight by giving up sugar and alcohol.

I'm really looking forward to the series, I like the books!

Yes, I don't want to be on a 'diet' permanently, I want to eat properly so it's normal.

I got up early this morning so I could get some stuff done and have achieved quite a bit :)

All presents now wrapped :j :j (I hate that job!)
Kitchen cleaned and fridge emptied and cleaned
    Hoovered through.
    Cleaned bathroom.

Pleased with that. It means most stuff is done and I can chill this weekend and spend some time with the family without stressing about what needs to be done.

  • I hate wrapping presents too, it takes forever. Good to get lots of jobs done so you can have a relaxed weekend :).
