Toys R Us Gift Vouchers

The fact is though is vouchers aren't money. Every voucher I can think of have had an expirey date and this has been the case all along. A reason could be updating them to make them more hard to copy etc so give them a date to be used by.
You clearly do not shop at many places ...
The following are just a few that all give open ended vouchers/ gift cards ...
Marks and Spencer
Boots
La Senza
FigleavesGone ... or have I?0 -
Hi. I work at Toys R Us on the customer service desk (don't hate me please lol) so I might be able to help a little bit.
Gift vouchers aren't given when you get a refund, you get a credit note. TRU only sell gift cards now. Gift vouchers are valid two years from the date printed on the back & credit notes are valid for a year.
If the vouchers are out of date, then head office is your best bet!
Oh & we're not all bad! I do get a lot of grief but unfortunately I have to stick to the policy, whether I agree with it or not!
Hi Zoe, thanks so much for your post. BTW - I never get cross with shop staff, I know they work hard for little reward. I'll definitely be trying head office though.
Thanks again.0 -
No problem. I hope you get it sorted!0

The fact is, whether you think it is reasonable or not, then store are entitled to impose their own terms and conditions when offering vouchers for purchase. You may not see why, but that isn't the point - they have a reason and anyone who chooses to buy gift vouchers has chosen a voucher over cash for their own reasons as well. I don't see the reason to impose a time limit on monetary value vouchers, but I can certainly see the logic behind many others, and again, it is not up to the store to prove that there is a reason, just to give a reasonable warning of the deadline, which they have.
I would agree that it can't hurt to ask for an extension though - when people throw themselves on your mercy rather than demanding something it makes you much more inclined to help.0 -

Theatre Vouchers/Tokens can be added to that list. In fact they state specifically that there is no expiry date for them.
I think the same applies to both Book and Garden Centre Tokens. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
