Benchmarking!

Thank you Tizerbelle, Is there any organisation we can get benchmarking information from, even at a cost?
What would be the point? Unless you know the criteria they used you won't know what information to get.
There are no rules saying what they have to base their calculations on - they could have picked anything - RPI, CPI, Income Tax rates, unemployment levels, ratio of cats and dogs to households, percentage of roads with Green in the name, whatever.0 -

..so just to understand. The company can say "they have done extensive benchmarking, and that the package they are offering is in the top quartile for UK redundancies", and there is nothing we can do to disprove this?0 -

They could just offer you, and just you, statutory...0 -
Thank you all for your advice x0

How many weeks full salary per year are they offering?
As an idea 4 is good, 2 is OK. anything less is poor.
Collective just sets the base for those they accept they can still offer more to individual if they want.
Same with the relocation offer they can sweeten the deal for those they want to keep.0 -
... it will then be the same for all Uk employees who opt for redundancy rather than relocation.
This is probably going to come as a shock to you, but the Republic of Ireland is not part of the UK. So what someone in another country gets is entirely irrelevant. It is entirely irrelevant why the employer has decided this. They have. That's reason enough. I presume that if your employer had a branch in India you'd be ok with getting more pay than them?
If you think that you are being hard done to with your enhanced redundancy package, then fight for a better one for yourselves, not argue about what someone else gets. You can always renegotiate the package. As can the employer. And it can go down as well as up.....0 -

there they have given you all the information you need.
shame you missed that crucial bit from your first post.
You can research to check if that statement is true.
The question you need to ask(rather the deflecting to a it's not fare)
"how do I check if our redundancy package is in the top 25% of redundancy packages"
if you told us the offer that would help gauge if it might be.
you could try

top of the list for me

(a bit dated but things don't change much and loads of clues where to find more information)0 -
Have you checked if the redundancy terms are set out in a company redundancy policy?
Your HR Department should be able to confirm if there is one and provide you with a copy.0 -

I understand your frustration OP, but the parallels drawn are valid.
My old company lost a contract which meant redundancies, some in UK,me included, and some in, yes you've guessed, India.
We got a lot more than than my Indian, ahem, colleagues, but quite frankly we didntl care. Much as I guess your ROI colleagues don't care about your situation
Your employer will follow the law of the land, or should do, wherever that land is.
What does your union have to say btw?Space available for rent0
