  • Currently feel like a drowned rat. Very wet here up in grasmere, rained all day. We've walked and litter picked about 9 miles. My feet are like 2 angry muppets that are constantly muttering under their breath with random blood curdling screams ( well it is Halloween). Been bit of a spendy day as needed a new waterproof and map case. Took DD1 for cake and a cup of tea in Ambleside to warm up before we started our walk back. Total cost of the day £81:eek:. Hope tomorrow the weather is more favourable.
Hope you all have a spooktacular Halloween

:hello:crumpetsweather was glorious today. We walked and litter picked for about 5 miles, we sauntered up to easedale tarn along with everyone else and their grandma. I hate people who drop litter, they seem to think its disappeared if they can't see it. The worst offending litter is wet wipes (they take ages to degrade, think micro plastics) which we won't pick up as its probably been places on a human body to intimate to mention. I don't get why you would want to wipe an intimate area of your body with something that is wet and then walk with it wet. Sorry probably too much info :rotfl: If that's what you really want to use though put it in a plastic bag and put it in the next bin you come across. Climbs down from soapbox. Looks like a good place to wild swim although not today as bits of me would of frozen off.
DD1 has talked my ears off and has covered a wide range of subjects from ionisation energies (don't ask me I don't really get it :rotfl:) to how her friends take the mick out of her as she has a bamboo toothbrush/refillable cup/bottle and how she deals with it (basically she doesn't care as she is an eco gnome!!!!!). Treated her to cake and tap water at a cafe=total £6.10 Really enjoyed our mini holiday and we are going to do one more walk before we go back home tomorrow.

2023: the year I get to buy a car
  • Excellent news!!! :j:T:beer:
  • Been a long day. Not really been for a long walk today as when we got to where we wanted to walk, the tiny car park in Kentmere was full and there is literally nowhere else to park. So went to Shap instead and went around a ruined abbey. DD1 is very self conscious of how small she is, she made me laugh when she decided to measure herself against one of the coffins (stone open coffin inserted in the ground) and found she was the same height as 13th century monk, so felt a bit better about been little for some reason :rotfl:. DD1 can be quite eccentric at times. We then decided to come home, but she wanted to call for fish and chips but I refused as I would of lost a NST and we had sandwiches etc in the back of the car.
So we are back home at last and mum bless her, had bought pizzas for tea so the kids are mega happy and NST still intact as she refused to take any money for it.
Have a bit of a dilemma as there may be a job going at DH old place of work in the next couple of months. I am very tempted to apply for it as its what I used to do before I became DD2 full time carer. However there are lots of issues that I need to think about first. Time for pizza, a glass of wine and a bath. Hope you all have a good evening.
