I have 1 dog candygirl but buy 3 sacks of food at a time, a bag lasts about a month, but get free delivery and usually 10% off, my dog has 1 chicken thigh a day but I tend to buy a month or more at a time and freeze in 3s, mrs-badger may find it time and cost effective that way as I do.
Just looked at your signature mrs-badger and it says 1 greyhound, that`s what I have too.
Do I need it or just want it.
  • I think we're at $185 which is over my monthly amount of $150 but definitely noticed that Hurricane Florence which came through our area as a tropical storm, pushed the prices of water, milk, and bread up. Annoying.
But as it's my first month and the $5 a day was a guess, I'm okay with spending some more. We have an old lady cat who has gone off her food. I've been swapping and changing to find something but it's costing us a bit more too.
  • Some spends from yesterday and today to declare.

€37.50 at an organic supermarket yesterday for shower gel and a couple other toiletries, coconut oil, as well as seitan and tempeh for OH to have vegetarian low carb options this week.

    €3.67 snacks/sliced meat.

€2.27 this morning at my market square on radicchio and a few green plums (green gages).

€14.30 at Carrefour on a small piece of gouda for snacking, YS steak, and three huge meaty spare ribs.

The whole summer supermarkets tend to sell them already marinated with a flavour I don’t like. As soon as I saw these without seasoning I snapped them up. I’ll wrap two to put in the freezer for later and pullout some wings I bought last week. I’ll test out smoking them in the oven with this smoking bag I bought at a kitchenwares store a few weeks ago.

I still need to get vegetable bouillon, toilet paper and Listerine this week, likely tomorrow or Tuesday afternoon. Let's see if I can stretch this out this last €85 for the next two weeks.

    TOTALS SO FAR:
    €416.66/€500.00
    5/12 NSD

MEAL PLAN (in no particular order)

    * baked eggs/crustless quiche - DONE - used up all the salad greens in the fridge
    * roasted peppers - DONE - used up the ones from birthday party
    * smoked chicken wings and pork spare rib

    * sour cream and scallion drop biscuits (to use a lot sour cream from my birthday party) - https://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/sour-cream-and-scallion-drop-biscuits
  • £9,55 to add to total
Not got alot of fresh stuff in, and only using one freezer at the moment, as was sick of having to keep defrosting the built in one that comes with the house ( private renting) - so thought if i shut the door and don't open it it shouldn't overfreeze.
Anyway, it feels like we have hardly anything in, or things that don't go together; and not many pennies left due to vet visits and just general bills.

    Ho-hum, can't wait til payday!

  • I've overspent. And there's another receipt from today that I e misplaced... will have to total up once it shows on online banking.

Not feeling super inspired by meal planning... need to transition back from summer foods to winter comfort food as it starts to get chillier! :)
  • Weekend spends for me total £5.54 in Mr T and £26.15 so £31.69. I still have a few small bits to get in Lidl this evening but that should be under £2. A little over my weekly budget this week but that did include a big pack of loo roll and some YS mince that I have put in the freezer for next weeks meals so I am not too worried about that.

This leaves a total of £94.11 so far for the month, with £30.89 left! Payday is the 25th for me so as long as I can keep my big shop on Friday below £30 then I think I will make my first ever target :)

  • I'm up to £29.17 after a £5.36 spend in Lidl and £3.42 in Tesco.

I have to say, Lidl was a massive disappointment today. I usually go on a Monday morning, and usually they are well stocked, but clearly there's been trouble with deliveries as there was virtually no bread, and lots of the fruit and veg was cleared out. I wasn't able to get a number of things on my list, so had to go to Tesco on the way home to fill the gaps.

I'm feeling well on target to come under budget this month, which is good. :)

  • I've had a couple of NSDs so am quite happy; just catching up on everyone else's news! It's a little reassuring to read how much dog food is costing; I've been panicking a bit as cat food is so much more now than when we previously had 4 or 5 cats, but we're stuck with the more expensive brands because that's better for Oldest Feline's health, and I can't regret that. Currently it's costing us about £1.80 a day to feed 4 cats, but that should drop back a bit once the kittens reach full size.
