Thanks for the reply’s
I’ll try that. The post is more about me managing my money rather than any issue with my dh withholding money.
It’s more I struggle to know what’s mine and what’s the family’s.
I guess I need to learn to just not buy anything for the family out of my cash purse.0 -
Alright, €16.90 spent in Delhaize just now, after the €6 in vouchers were accounted for. I got 2x halloumi, 2x Greek yoghurt, babaganoush, large container of olives, a wedge of blue cheese and some bacon. That takes care of our savoury things until the weekend.
After coming home I put some of the sliced bell peppers leftover from Saturday into the oven to roast and I started on the chicken wing dish. Once the peppers come out of the oven, I'll put the wings in. I'll have to find the energy to make a frittata tonight so we can have it for our lunches tomorrow. OH is already frying up his halloumi.
TOTALS SO FAR:

Do you shop or work with tesc0 home delivery? I declined a product that had been substituted in my last order and nearly 2 weeks later, I'm still waiting to be refunded. Im sure this will be sorted when I ring up but I was taken back because when I said I didn't want the substitute, the driver's manner completely and noticeably changed. almost as if, me declining the sub would make him late back at store or he would lose his no sub returns bonus. Obviously no refund being received only adds to my guess that i upset the driver somehow? Was just wondering if we had any tesc0 bods amongst us who could could shed some light?0

Good evening all
Congratulations to Mrs FrugalInShropshire. I hope you have a very happy and long life together.
I’ve got a couple of spends to declare. We did our main shop on Sunday, spending £37.16 in MrT’s plus another £xx in Lidl. I don’t know exactly how much because we also bought a toaster for £15. DH has confiscated the receipt/put it in his filing for the guarantee, so I’ll say £5. Today, I spent another £5.12 in MrT’s.
Anyway, the above spending brought my total GC spend to £68.34/£133.50, leaving £65.06 for the remainder of the month. I can’t see us spending much of it, maybe £10, because we’re off to France for the last week of September and any groceries purchased there will be either out of the Running Away Fund or the Bulk Fund.

£4.66 spent today on bananas, bread, milk, beansprouts and - a bun! Because I'm worth it... (ducks)
Actually I haven't eaten it yet; bought it intending to share it with DD2, as we both have the horrible cold & I thought some carbs might help lift the joint spirits a bit, but then I forgot it completely. So I'll take it down to Mum's tomorrow to share with her instead! I've been too busy preparing for this weekend's event (a needlework festival; I'm selling and demonstrating) to actually make a batch of anything interesting. But I have been over to the allotment & brought back two bags-for-life worth of beans, peas, chillis, peppers, courgettes, a cucumber, and various leaves towards our stir-fry tomorrow. And I liberated a tub of venison stroganoff from the freezer to take to Mum's for lunch tomorrow, along with some allotment veg, so I'm feeling relatively virtuous. And as if I might actually manage to stick to the budget...Angie - GC Aug25: £106.61/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -
Damn! I forgot the farm shop! We dropped in there on Sunday, spending £7.40 on eggs and veg. This brings our spend to £75.84/133.50, leaving £57.66 in the kitty.
As well as being forgetful, I do have a some food-related successes and a near-disaster to report. They’re all from our vegetable garden. We have 3 raised beds, several soil-filled tyres and a tomato planter (it has a water reservoir underneath the soil). This year, we grew broad beans (success - now frozen), garlic (failure), broccoli (bolted), tomatoes (success), potatoes (TBA) and carrots (successful but mutant).
On the success side, I’m gradually harvesting the tomatoes and turning them into tomato sauce. Most nights, I’ll harvest a mutant carrot - they all have multiple legs - and incorporate it in dinner. The potatoes are earthed up in their tyre stacks and will be harvested when we get back from France.
The near-disaster occurred on Sunday night. The plan was to grill some salmon fillets and serve them with broccoli and couscous. Out of 4 plants, we’ve only had one head of broccoli that hasn’t bolted completely (it was at the “sprouting broccoli” stage but not yet flowers). I harvested it, gave it a perfunctory wash and each stalk got a good trim. It was only when I was dishing up dinner that I realised the broccoli was riddled with caterpillars, now dead and bleached from their boiling but there was no way on earth I was going to serve up the broccoli. Yuck!

Since last week i have bought bananas, which i will estimate were a £1. I gave DD2 £1.50 and i didn't count the loose change.
Then Monday at work i spent £2.71 approx
We are low on quick things to eat. Eveything we have in the freezer and cupboards that go together, are stuff that goes in a sauce. If i do anything else then it mean i will need to do an online shop or nip to Morrisons; both of which i am trying to avoid, but mightn't be able to.GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 July £89.90/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. I bought some diced venison yesterday in our new Iceland superstore, don`t normally go into the shop in town, but I liked the feel of this one. Like the sound of a stroganoff.Do I need it or just want it.0
