    Hello all!

This month's grocery bill is very much helped by:

    1) Heaving stock cupboards
    2) DH working away Mon-Fri with a company credit card for food
    3) A few weddings/meals out not included in budget.

So far I've spent £120.73. As I went last night I don't expect to shop now until next Saturday. As we have so much in the freezer and cupboard I'm hoping to do just a £10 fruit/veg/salad top up at Lidl and come under budget at £130 for the month!!

£31.59 spent between Tesco and Aldi, stocked up on some super 6 items, I always think better quality at beginning of offer, Tesco needed my 85% choc searched shelf and found 13 bars pushed to the back, 2 tins of Christmas choccy, and some y.s. lunch tongue.
Looking like a bad month catching up on the £57 not spent last month
Do I need it or just want it.

Afternoon all - declarations since last post - £19.37 on food including quite a few YS meat and fish - £3.20 spent at the butchers on x2 sausage rolls and a savoury duck. Lady in front of me spent £108.66!! Hers included just about everything - bit of butcher envy going on but will get over it.
Spent £7.22 on non food at HB - prices so much lower than the SM's.
DS1 orf house sitting for a week so down to two of us which should help the budget.
Out of the freezer came meatballs for tea - reduced to 28p from £2.55, used up peppers, tomatoes and peas in the sauce and will be enough for his packed lunch tomorrow.

First shop since my last post. Got 2kg onions, 2kg carrots, 7 large leeks, 7 swedes, large bowl cherry tomatoes, 1 large lettuce, 3 large avocado and portobello mushrooms. Did say I was only going to spend £5pw on veggies, as I'm living out of stores, it came to £6.58, but lots of ys, so pleased with that and should last longer than a week. Made a huge bowl of veggie stew, 5 portions to freeze and made some chickpea tofu, really easy, just chickpea flour n water. Am now on £14.80. No money spent on alcohol (yet). Have updated sig.

I harvested it, gave it a perfunctory wash and each stalk got a good trim. It was only when I was dishing up dinner that I realised the broccoli was riddled with caterpillars, now dead and bleached from their boiling but there was no way on earth I was going to serve up the broccoli. Yuck!

This is literally the stuff of my nightmares. I am SO squeamish about insects. BLEAH!!

Today was another NSD and there's still tons of food in the fridge. I'm a bit bored of it though, so I should try to preserve some of it in the freezer. Ex: all the chopped onion from last week. I still haven't made frittata yet. I think I may finally do it tomorrow evening. This weekend I'll get some more berries since we're down to just a few strawberries I'll probably eat tomorrow morning for breakfast.

    TOTALS SO FAR:
    €349.46/€500.00
    4/12 NSD
  • I need to have a good look through the freezer before I go shopping this weekend. I need to stock up on cereal and buy dishwasher tablets but I'm determined to keep it under £75. Need some wholewheat pasta too but that's cheap enough.

Whopper of a shop today of £91 as I have family staying until Tuesday and I'm catering for 8 on Sunday. It did include a side of salmon which was on SO which will get vac packed and frozen as well as some beers so not too bad I suppose. Total so far is £132/£160.
  • Hello,

So I have had a good look at my bank accounts this morning and Have counted all my spending on food inc. top up shops and I did a big shop in Farmfoods a few days ago. I have already spent £202.52!!!! I added up my eating out and take outs etc. and I have spent £101.17!! Totaling £303.69.:eek::eek::eek:

I feel like I have failed already. After looking through that I have decided I need to be a lot stricter on myself and am going to draw money out cash each week for my food. No wonder I have a big CC debt and I am always in my OD.
I have made a meal plan and I am going to stick to that meal plan 100%

    C xx

  • £45 spent today on fish, bread, cheese, fruit & veg. I'd expect to spend another £20 at the butcher's stall tomorrow. Still on track, but not a lot of leeway in case of emergencies...
