Mine is showing that now too.

However, I've previously been sent a letter to return the excess interest. Hope I get to keep it this time

Happened to me a few issues ago and I asked to raise a complaint on their poor control and systems. Others had done similar talking through with the advisor.

They not only gave me £50 (which I didnt ask for) but told me to keep the interest and haven't bothered me since.

I'll ask them to resurrect that complaint if they do.
  • Amount transferred should be £3,592.46 from the info on my Virgin account.

    That's the 43.66 X 2.

Not yet showing in my linked account but looks positive.

    Another who's has arrived fine.

The VM savings account replacing my recently matured and closed one shows a balance of -£39 no doubt the double interest. This is my first one to mature so have no experience of this.

They haven't asked for it back yet but I will be in store soon to open a new issue one. I have loads of online and a couple of branch RS with them already, am I going to be hassled?

Both mine & MrsM's show -£43.66. Will have to wait and see where this goes. I suppose they could use set off against other accounts if they wanted to.

A savings account cannot be overdrawn, can it?

Supplementary question: If you have to report your savings interest to HMRC, do you tell them about the double dose?

And what will Virgin report to HMRC?
