Thank you, I'd forgotten all about the March payday!!!:j:jHow's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
Well, my two savers that were showing negative balances of circa £45 due to double interest are now showing negative balances of circa £90, with new lines added stating "interest recovered" on 11 Mar. This is going to be fun.0

Me too. I'm just going to ignore it.0

A far simpler explanation is that they just don't want to do the online accounts anymore - reserving the best rate for accounts which require customers to have face-to-face contact with branch staff from time to time.
There are some very simple and obvious workarounds that Virgin could use if they were so inclined - I'm sure they have IT experts who could come up with some ideas. :silenced:
[prospective new customer or two, so might be a bit off the main topic here]
Perhaps their IT experts could fix the branch search on the website.
Apparently there is no branch within 100 miles of me, or London, or Southampton, or Newcastle.
At that point I gave up, but when I later came back to the tab it had refreshed itself and had a list including Bromley Chelmsford Dorking and Guildford0 -

One of mine is showing something similar. But also the account now shows as if it were a loan instead of a savings account! I'm seeing the account opened with a NEGATIVE balance, increasing towards zero as I paid into it, then the double interest added to take it to zero, THEN going back down to minus £95.
Look for yourself - this has to be seen to be believed... :eek:0 -
Interest recovered showing on mine too - makes no sense whatsoever! -£77 balance?0

Looks like they're actually doing something about it now/trying to implement the change...
....it only took them 2 and half years.

Mines now showing -£87.21. If I pay that back I would not have received any interest on that account. I've only been contacted about one double interest payment and I paid that back. This debit balance makes no sense at all

I've now got three tax statements for each of the affected accounts: one saying zero interest, one saying correct interest, and one saying double interest. My online HMRC account doesn't show a breakdown of what banks have told them, so god knows what I'm meant to put on my tax return.0
