Apparently he has an M2 - though I don't know whether Matchbox have that item for sale yet...perhaps he has contacts in the factory...

After spending a lot of time looking for the spark plugs on my car I decided to hand it in to my garage

You're not usually shy about asking here!
If we're talking about the RX8, I've done it. They're on the SIDE of the engine, not the top. This is part of why a rotary engine can be flooded. There are 4, 2 for each rotor, and you access them by taking the front left (passenger) wheel off, and some wheelarch plastics.
No specialist tools, just a good socket set. The plugs themselves are a little special, and the HT leads need to be good too - if you don't KNOW that they are, you might as well change them at the same time. And put them back in the same order!.
I did this myself in an afternoon in my garage, working blind a little bit, with an excellent guide from the RX8 forum.

You need to go to a different garage, this one is clueless or lying.
If it really is an engine stripdown job to change the plugs

I didn't see this suggested anywhere, and it is not.
despite needing an oil change every 3000 miles

    Your second misinformation.

It’s not the garage who’s lying.

Had an M2. It was "conveniently" written off before he could show it to anyone. ;)

Seems to me, that if you want to run anything different, then unless you have very deep pockets, and a decent specialist near you're better off learning to DIY.
That's the MSE way, and also makes sure that the job's are done properly.
Otherwise it's a lot easier to have something common.

I found this. I'd a Volvo S40 T5 2.5 Turbo and anything other than basic maintenance required a specialist. Same with my Clio RS200 and RS197 and MG ZT v6.

Too much hassle and i hadnt the time or inclination to work on them myself.

Yes, its funny that, given it was a brand new M2 you'd expect it simply to have been replaced?

    But no.... ;)

Maybe hes saving up for a Mighty M3?
