Garage refusing to do work on my car
Hi,
After spending a lot of time looking for the spark plugs on my car I decided to hand it in to my garage. They initially said it won't be a problem and its an easy job but I got a call from them just now say the car needs to go to a "specialist" and that they don't have the correct tooling for the job. All I wanted was a change in spark plugs, gear box oil, LSD oil and engine oil so basically a routine service.
There are no local so called "specialists" around me. Shall I just try another garage who will accept the job?

It does sound a bit suspicious though, as if they may have damaged something which they can't fix and now want it off their hands.
What car is it?0 -
If it really is an engine stripdown job to change the plugs, when you get them done, ask for the old ones back "to see how bad they are" (and check the part numbers match your engine)
With modern long life plugs you will never notice any difference when/if they are changed.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science )0 -
No spark plug socket? or spanners for the diff, gearbox or sump.
Absolute rubbish.
Whereabouts in the country are you?0 -

What's the car?0

Ah, the penny drops, this is an RX8, as recommended as a first car, despite needing an oil change every 3000 miles and a weekly top up in between.
The 1st garage don't want the business, just take it somewhere else.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

That's if this isn't just a dark kind of matter...0
