    I get about one call every two weeks from them. There was a Simpsons episode where Homer was arrested for using an automated dialer. Shame they dont do the same to CallValue.

    Hi all.

    I just got "called" by Callvalue and pressed 2 to speak to an operator. I then asked to speak directly to the manager, who I let rip on, to put it bluntly.

    I had previously got through to them a while back, and asked to be taken off their list, but still I continued getting calls. Naturally they were usually left on my answerphone, so I had no chance of speaking to them again.

    The last time I spoke to one of them, he told me that they were based in Brighton, and that they worked directly for Callvalue. He had only just started working there, and knew precious little about the company, so I let it lie. Besides, he'd promised that I was off the list!

    Today, however, I was in!! I gave the manager an earful, and asked for details of the CEO, the Marketing Manager, and their base of operations. He told me it was company policy NOT to give that information out. Not that it was against the law, but that it was their policy.

    I told him I wanted to make a formal complaint that would be dealt with, and he said he'd made a note of my complaint. I stressed that I wanted to have contact details to make a PROPER formal complaint, and he repeated that they don't give out company details.

    Anyhow.. I found something interesting on the TPS site.

    8. Will registering with TPS reduce the receipt of recorded messages?

    No. Organisations that use recorded phone message to try and sell or promote their products or business have to comply with the http://www.informationcommissioner.gov.uk Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003.

    These say that marketers who leave recorded phone messages must obtain the prior consent of the subscriber before they can make that call. Where a subscriber receives a recorded phone message they haven't agreed to there may have been a breach of the regulations.

    If you are receiving recorded messages and have not given prior permission, you can complain directly to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

    I then dug some more and found this page with more interesting info;

    http://www.ico.gov.uk/upload/documents/library/privacy_and_electronic/detailed_specialist_guides/guidance_part_1_for_subscribers_v3.1_081007.pdf

    Specifically the following passage;
    "How do I stop unsolicited automated calls?

    Contact the marketer and tell them to stop. They are legally obliged to provide you with their contact details in their marketing message. They are also legally obliged to stop calling you when you ask them to."

    The bit I was interested in was that they are legally obliged to provide you with their contact details in their marketing message. In their marketing message, they simply say press 2 now. That's not contact details in my book!!

    Anyhow... a bit long winded this, but I thought it might help anyone who was still trying to get them to stop... as it looks rather like they're not following the regulations.

  • Just had a call from Callvalue, about the 20th in as many days! I have told them they keep calling although assured they would not call us again and took all numbers at our office! spoke to a manager called kieran again and he said exactly same thing that they could not give out number or address of call value as all calls rerouted from abroad call centre and they are based on south coast. what a load of rubbish! I said they have been reported to BT (but then BT need a number etc so not much joy so far). all calls are witheld numebrs so can't be traced. every time they call I play them along and wait to get them excited for free calls and another customer! then let them down, play them at their own game if you have time. they must be stopped at all costs. i really feel sorry for someone that does say yes, who the hell are they signing up with if no details being given out. if BT have taken this company on to get themnew business then more fool them, this is not the way to get business. If we all campaign for them to be stopped then something must be done. i will speak to BT and see if we can get the number tracedd, even reporting them to police for harassment. watch this space.!!
  • Does anyone have a telephone number for CallValue, I have searched the web but can find no contact number to call.
    We have been getting numerous calls per day from these idiots and our switchboard will not "tone" when asked to press 2, therefore the call hangs up at the end of the message and I get to speak to no-one.
    I have contacted Offtel who were next to useless. They said they can block the calls but they would charge approx £30 per phone number (and we have about 40 phone numbers within the office). They did not offer any other solution to this problem.
    If anyone can provide me with a contact number or even an address so we can get removed from this anoying service, I would be most greatful.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Hi all,

    One thing occurred to me recently as I was still steaming over this whole thing.

    CallValue won't give out their details, right? So basically it's really difficult to make a complaint, right? Well what if we were to take a contract with them. Are they not going to give us any contact details even if we actually SIGN UP? If that's the case, then how dodgy is THAT?!!

    I've actually not received any more calls from them for a while (although I'm sure they'll start again) but it might be worthwhile someone quizzing them on this fact if they ever get to speak to them.

    I'm pretty sure that they're somewhere in Brighton, as Cazzieann mentioned they're on the South Coast, and the employee I once spoke to let it slip that that's where they are... but Google-ing them and checking the Yellow Pages didn't help. They're probably registered under a different name. If anyone can find out what THAT is, we might be able to get further in our tracking them down!!

    Anyhow, good luck all.

    I've been getting frequent calls from these people too.

    So this time I hung on, pressed '2', and asked the person to take my number off the call list. They replied "certainly", but before I could tell them the number they hung up.

    Oh dear.

    Needless to say this bunch are now in my sights for receipt of maximum hassle.

    Provided you really don't get charged for pressing '2', a small return blow until they can be tracked down and properly nailed might be to connect to them and say nothing. Loads of people doing that will soon irritate right back.

    Or if you fancy a bit of fun, just ask them to 'hang on a minute please', and then see how long you can keep them on the line.
  • I've also been getting regular annoying, unsolicited automated/dialer calls from these donuts.

    Dear BBC - make them stop.

    The CEO, Sales and/or Marketing Director must be very proud employing such a poorly conceived tactic in their hunt for new customers.
