The dealer immediately offered to refund me as they probably wanted to avoid an investigation by trading standards which would have been my next port of call.
Let us know what their response is, certainly sounds dodgy.
Still waiting to hear from the garage we purchased it from. We emailed the Dealer Principal who in turn passed it to the General Sales Manager to investigate. May I ask what did they refund you for? We are concerned how the lack of service may affect the warranty. We haven't mentioned Trading Standards to them as yet but that's certainly an avenue we may have to go down if we don't get a satisfactory response0 -
Surprised at how common it is, very easy to buy log books and garage stamps, you can even choose the colour and logo:

Please note that at no point during this work was the kettle ever put out of commission and no chavs were harmed during the making of this post.0 -

I discovered it within a week of buying it, so they just refunded the purchase price.0 -

Don't really want to return the car as we are pleased with it overall and have had it for 7 weeks. If the spanner hadn't lit up on the instrument panel we'd have been none the wiser only contacted them as it illuminated so quickly after last supposed service0 -
As noted above - if a serviced didn't happen in march - when was the last service before that, and how many miles has it done since then?0
-
The March service is the only one recorded in the service book the vehicle was registered Oct 16 so not quite 2 years old. It had an approved check (or so they tell us...) in June0
-
One thing to point out....
My wife picked up a new car last month. It was serviced before collection.
2 weeks later the service due message shows. It seems that the message can't be cleared / reset until it shows - even if you have the service early.
It doesn't explain your discrepancy in the dealer records - but the warning spanner doesn't ne essarily mean it hasn't been serviced.0 -

The spanner has infact now disappeared our local Renault dealer advised us it was an early indicator that the oil and filter change service needed to be done in October to ensure warranty terms were met. I found this all out having already made enquiries with the garage that was supposed to have done the service in March0 -

And you believe that? :rotfl:
However, looks like a service before October will preserve the warranty, and assuming it had the first one around October last year, it wouldn't have been serviced anyway, you'd still be paying for one in October.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)
