  • Afternoon,

I've been quiet just recently as I have been out of sorts for a wee while. Just a mixture of life events and personal things but I am getting through it as best as possible.

I haven't kept my eye on my bank account/funds that closely like I usually do as I have been spending quite a bit on upcoming holiday essentials/clothes. I am waiting for another two parcels to arrive and then will sort what needs returning. I haven't been paying full price for all these and have been shopping through the sales. I bought one dress that was £28.00 reduced from £150.00- bargain! It also looks amazing on my figure and suits my complexion.

So I have a few bits I would like to get done for the rest of the day.

    To do list.

    - Sort out online banking, move funds where essential. (I need to look at this closely and pay more attention, I have been quite blase just lately).
    - Enquire about travel insurance and find the best available prices.
(This can be hard due to my current medical conditions however some companies do not cover it and it isn't something that is a massive problem as I am pretty stable and have PRN meds just incase and lots of support around me when we go on holiday).
    - Read a book. (I have decided to start up reading again as this relaxes me).
    - Organise this weeks activities. (I had some provisionally booked but need to confirm these and also arrange things with other friends/family members. I will utilise passes we already have and find things that are free to do or relatively cheap).

It was the boys birthday yesterday and we went to his favourite place which is one our local indoor climbing places. They offer a pass for £40 for six climbs which he has already utilised so his Nanny bought him another one which he is over the moon about and we will use this over the next upcoming weeks. It is a good exercise and workout and kills an hour at a time. Plus the customer service there is amazing and the instructors are great with the kids. I do generally tend to get myself a hot drink whilst there but have been using one of the coffee cards so my next drink is free!

I am hoping to post more and be more active this week. The good news is that I finally return to work on Saturday after being off for eight weeks with this horrid depression. I am coming out the other side of it and need the routine and structure back in my life. I will be starting off slowly doing a phased return and with upcoming holidays/annual leave, I won't be back properly until the end of September which is fine for me. They have also agreed that I can do set days which means I save on childcare. I originally put the boy in afterschool club 3x a week but I shall be cutting this down to 2x a week and there is alternative childcare available if required (through family members or friends).

    Have a good day everyone.

Oh no, CLF, that has a distinct whiff of
££££s about it. Let's hope not. Maybe a repairable tyre?

    Hi Monday Money Savers,
Distinctly a day of 2 halves today. Awoke very stressed at 5 a.m with not a hope of being able to sort out a problem. Tackled it at 10 a.m & completely sorted it out! Felt my stress levels drop after that & got a few frugal jobs done while listening to audiobooks:
*Overnight cheap tariff laundry pegged out to dry for free (until a rain deluge!)
    *Made tomorrow's packed lunch.
    *Rubber chicken duties successful.
*Lots of 'use it up' items used today.
*Picked all veg that was ready.
*Picked greengages & turned them into 9 pots of compote for the freezer.
    *Baked a sourdough loaf.
*Found recipes for some batch cooking tomorrow.

    Hope you are all ok?

  • Morning,

It is quite a dreary looking day here so far, the clouds are grey and there seems to be no sign of sunshine. I didn't sleep too well last night and kept waking up at random points so I am a bit of a grump this morning. We have quite a busy day planned which I am not sure is a good thing or not.

I have the doctors first thing this morning to give me the all clear to go back to work. I can't see any reason why not but it is just another thing to tick off the list. My first day back is Saturday and now it is getting closer, I am not sure how I am feeling about it. I was dreaming about it last night and woke at one point wondering what was going on or how I had got into the situation. I know once I am back it will be okay but I have been off for eight weeks, far longer then I intended.

I managed to sort out my online banking yesterday, arrange a few activities for this week and read a book. I have also started reading another that I am enjoying. I forgot how much I do enjoy reading but I read rather quickly so I finish a book in no time. I need to watch how much I am spending when downloading these. I usually go for the 99p books in the app store. I am finding it relaxes me though which is a good thing.

    Todays to do list.

    - Sort out post and organise cards/cash into purse.
    - Sort out travel insurance.
    - Go Drs and get the all clear, then inform work.
    - Use up leftover meat in fridge for tea.
    - Buy some milk from the shop.
    - Take the boy to indoor climbing place.
    - Lunch from stores.
    - Go out for afternoon with my cousin.
    - Get petrol.

As mentioned we have quite a busy day ahead of us so I need to take it all in my stride. This afternoon we are suppose to be going somewhere with my cousin and her daughter. I am unsure where we are going but know it will probably cost me around £15 so I have taken that out of the entertainment fund.

    Have a great day everyone!

    Morning folks

OH got back ok. We think it's just a flat tyre, but the car is getting a once over anyway.

    Today's mission:
    • B/L/D from stores
    • Gym at lunchtime - done
    • Charge phone in work
    • Try to relax
    • Bit of crochet. Need to frog and re-work a little tighter for a bit as I've ended a row about 2 inches of yarn short and I've hit the end of the ball. I do have another ball but am not joining for one stitch!!
    Have a good one all

    Evening all :)
Not much accomplished today as I woke up feeling yucky :(
Feel a bit better now :)

    I did manage to:
Had HG raspberries and blueberries with breakfast

Took myself for a walk into town to buy the couple of things on my list - £3 spent in Iceland. Also went into CS to donate a set of kitchen cannisters and some harnesses that the dog grew out of ages ago. Not sure why I was keeping those
Picked tomatoes and feed tomatoes, French beans, squashes etc. Now need more liquid feed!
    A load of washing

    Picked a few more raspberries
Made pesto pasta for dinner, using pesto that I had previously made and froze - ideal when you don't feel like cooking :)

Early night coming up I think!

    Hi Money Savers,
Wondering how the budget will hold up now we have to go to London for a week (family crisis, not a holiday). Will plan for what is 'plannable' & will just have to tackle other stuff when & if it arises. As for today's efforts:
*Big batch cooking session to make sure none if our home grown produce goes to waste.
*Didn't put washer on timer last night in case it was still raining when I got up. It wasn't so I switched it on quickly to get an hour & a bit of electricity while we were still on night time rates. All dried for free outside.
    *Picked more courgettes & aubergines.
    *Watered veg.
    *Leftovers for tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Refilled telephone pad with scrap paper cut to size.
*2 more 50ps paid into my sealed pot.
No free fitness....or indeed any fitness today. Achilles tendonitis. Bah! Haven't had it for ages. It usually rights itself in the end.
*Update my DFW diary - still to do but will be done very soon, then I am going to put my feet up & read a chapter of my book.
    Love to all,
    F x
