  • Hiya!

Do you still have the handset from the Vodafone contract? If so, it must be relatively new. It might be worth seeing if you can sell it on eBay or through mobipay and pay it off one of the debts.

Just remember to take out the sim before you part with it!

  • Well ive not posted on this for quite a while but thought i'd post a wee update.. so i can look back and see how far i've come :)

My Debts are now down to 9,658.17 which is a diff of 1771 not a great dif but that includes a little blip in my Gambling in Feb this yr which accounts for around 2,000 or so.. so i'd be doing alot better if it wasn't for that..but i've not gambled since and things are looking alot more positive :)

My spending has changed big style.. Since my inital post i haven't put a single thing on my Credit Card and have stayed within budget every month.. ive also upped my payments to £500 a month and all my cards are on 0% deals at the moment :)

    My Updated SAO are below:

    Income

Wages - £1100.. Aprox.. 950 Basic plus i do an hours overtime every day im at work.

    Outgoings

Digs - [STRIKE]£100[/STRIKE] £50 - To Help me my mum has agreed to half my digs for a while if i agreed to put the extra £50 towards my debt
NTL - [STRIKE]£25 [/STRIKE] £0 My Dad has let me away with paying this again if i put the money towards my debt
    Car - £180
Mobile - [STRIKE]£45[/STRIKE] £25 My Mate works for 02 and got me a friends and family deal. The other 2 contracts have been canceled :)
Petrol - [STRIKE]£160[/STRIKE] £120 - Been driving more sensibly and reduced my petrol by around £40 a month.
Footie.. [STRIKE]£50[/STRIKE] £30 Despite bein 22 i have been chancing my arm as an under 16 and getting away with it.. so instead of paying £15 a match im paying around £5.. This also includes my away busses

    Debts...

    HSBC - 1,411.84 - 19.9% 0% for 12Mnths
    Capital1 1,930 - 19.9% - 0% for 9Mnths

    Barclycard 3296 - 15.9 0% for 9Months
    Loan 6payments @ 220 left

    Total Debt: 9,658.17

I have been usin Quidco were i can and using Pigsback..

Most nights out i take the car and give people lifts in return for irn bru altho i make special occasions of Scotland games and put money aside in my budget to make a day of it. I take packed lunch to work every day.

All in all things are going great... im really enjoying being able to organise my finances and last month i had my car service at 118 and was able to budget for this and not worry how im going to pay for it.

  • Hi, it sounds like you are doing really well.

You shouldn't knock yourself over the amount you have paid off. From where I am standing, you have made a concerted effort to reduce your outgoings and getting everything on 0% is no mean feat these days!

Laying off the gambling and drinking is no doubt helping you stay younger looking which sounds like its helping with the footie!!!

Really good you are budgeting too - it really makes a difference.

Well done you - keep up the good work!!!
