Then could you challenge yourself to make that EXTRA income every month. By any means such as bar job, matched betting, online surveys, ebay etc etc.

I'm guessing it may not be a good idea to suggest this to someone with a gambling problem!:rotfl:

Yes you are right. I'm sorry I should have though more carefully about that. Although Matched Betting is very safe (ONLY IF YOU FOLLOW THE RULES TO THE LETTER) it is not a good idea for people with an addiction to gambling to be around them kind of sites.

Sounds like the best possible solution.. Appologies if people think i'm being demissive in not giving up the footie it's just a rather massive part of my life and something that i really aint willing to give up..

Adding up the yearly cost is pretty hard but heres my estimates, I'll go from October 06 to October 07

    Season Ticket... 150
    Supporters Bus.. 130
    20 (approx inc Cup) x Away Matches @ Approx £15... 300
    6 x Scotland Home @ £27... 162
    3 x Scotland Away Trips @ £250 Approx... £750
    Total.. 1492

So say 1500 Divided by 12... 125 Per Month

This probably seems alot but remember that figure includes 3 week long Holidays.. I never went away other than them and the away entry is estimates.. it will probably be at least £50 less than that..

Add to that in the next year i wont have the 3 scotland Trips or the 6 scotland home games which whipes a good £900 off the total.. I may be away next summer *fingers crossed* but have money set aside for that.. However i think the £125 a month is doable... What yous think?

£125 sounds doable to me but what do you think? Can you do overtime to get this amoutn? Part time job? Ebay but I suppose that will only last so long.

I think setting it out like that and knowing you need to budget the £125 could motivate you to trying to earn that 'extra' over your ordinary income which then frees up some of your wages to go towards debts.

Also when you do move in with your girlfriend hopefully the football will not become a bone of contention because the money for it is coming out of another 'pot'.

I agree that you shouldn't have to give this up if its your passion but I also feel that as you are in debt you should push really hard to earn that extra £125.

Good luck I'm sure you will reach all your goals as you sound very determined.

I think it's doable too.. Will try get more overtime in work.. Can make that £125 by working 2 6 hour Sunday Shifts in work a month... Just gotta find work i can be doin on a Sunday.. Work in an Office and my Mum is my Manager.. so its easy to get her to authorize it.. shes just gotta justify it with the big boss...

Been clearing out my room anyway so got a pile of clothes etc to sell on Ebay.. so will shove some on and see how they do.. should hopefully help raise a wee bit of funds!

Getting another job is prob last resort.. My OH works shifts in her work so if i had another job it could mean spending very little time together.. also back to the original problem.. it could mean having to work Saturdays...

Sounds like a plan then ;)

Its amazing how just totalling up and working out exactly what you will need per month can motivate you. And when you are working those 2 extra 6 hr shifts you will be able to think to yourself that the football money is covered by them alone. I can imagine that being quite a nice feeling.

And if that £125 can definatley be met I assume you can work out a new budget of what you can throw at your debts.

Have you joined Quidco? If you get your car insurance or buy any christmas presents or anything on line through quidco you can get cashback which soon adds up.

    Good luck again.

Hi just wanted to drop in 7 say hi. You remind me of my OH he travelled a lot to the Scorland games. I can see your point of view. When I was in debt I always had something low cost that I enjoyed doing like going for coffee on a Saturday or going to a class which kept me going. Don't give up on the footie but at least your doing it in a cheap way. A suggestion would be to see Martins thread on click throughs which will earn you £20 a month or more. You may not see any money for a few months but when you get that first pay cheque it will be all worth it!! Good Luck.

How about getting a job as a steward (or similar?) at the football? That way you still get to be there, save your season ticket money and get paid for it?

The demotivator tool at the top of the page is a good tool for making you realise how much you are spending.

However... I belive Program and Half Time draw sellers get in for free.. so Will look into that for next season, My Season Ticket is already paid up for this year anyway...

Mates Birthday last night.. Met up with everyone after meal.. went out and didnt spend anything.. Took the car and was quite happy not to drink..

Cleaned the inside of my car but was too dark and misrable to do the outside so took it to the local handwash.. £4 including Alloys and Wax.. So not too bad

Had to Fill up petrol last night tho.. So £40 spend there.. Got Points on my Shell Card tho..

Got Lunch in with me and staying in to watch the Footie tonight.. Normally we would go to the pub or get a chinese if we stay in but told him i'd grab something at home before i come over despite my mouth watering for Chinese right now!!

Been Busy on Pigsback and Quidco... another £1.25 earned on Pigsback and gor £1.08 tracked so far on Quidco.. Alot of the links on the Quidco post i cnt access in work.. Competitions.. Gamblin.. etc etc so will wait till i get home and do some of them :)
