Is this for the property you are leaving soon?

If so I would just leave it and see if they claim it out of the deposit. If they do, argue that it is wear and tear and see what the adjudicator says.

Or just buy a new one for a fiver.

  • I would definitely say wear and tear but if you leave it you will no doubt get charged more than the cost of replacement. Was it new when you started to rent? If you look at most hotel shower curtains they are a bit dodgy so I'm sure the lifespan isn't long,
  • To be honest if it only costs a fiver then let the landlord deduct it and get them to refit it. If it wasn't new they can't claim for a new one.
  • They can't claim for a new one anyway as it's at least two years old. Don't waste your own time.

Find a cheap one, keep a record of where it can be got, then if there lLL entries to get a new one point out the cheap one and that you won't pay more than 50% as you aren't allowing betterment

    1. Buy new shower curtain or clean this one.
    2. Give your head a wobble that you even asked about this.

Don't want to spend a fiver on a replacement shower curtain after 2 years use . . . the mind boggles ..

Exactly - the landlord shouldn't have a problem with buying a new one at all. After all, the tenant has been paying rent to use it.
