This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone
The temperature is much better for sleeping now and I managed to get off to sleep really quickly and was hoping to sleep through until 3 or 4am again but have still woken up at silly o’clock like I have been during the hot weather. I think it was car doors banging and people shouting goodbye to each other that has woken me up. I shall go back to bed shortly when I’m sure that they have all gone. Hopefully I will be able to sleep for a few more hours yet.
I am enjoying the respite from the really hot weather and managed to get quite a lot done around the house yesterday. I feel like I am back on top of the housework.
Today my brother and sister in law are coming over as they are going shopping in the town and they will park here, the bonus for me when they do that is getting taken out for lunch.
Other than that, I don’t have anything else that has to be done so it will be a general pottering day.
I hope that you are enjoying your ‘you’ time’ tru.
TA I’m sorry that you have more worries, take care x
What time would you like me over to paint your doors nannywindow? I’ll do almost anything for tea and cake:.
Hopefully your first grandchild will arrive soon Elona.
I hope that you had a good time last night Redruby.
.
RosyRed Eeek  at those working temperatures, I would have been stood out in the rain as well
AOD I hope that you are managing to get some relief from your tooth pain.
Csarina At least the MRI scan has ruled out a bleed or scan, although I know that it won’t stop you worrying about your OH. I hope that he has had a comfortable night.
I hope that you all have the best Sunday that you can.0 -
Morning all and thank you for starting the thread Hollyharvey.
We had lots of rain yesterday and more overnight so that has cleaned up the pavements and I am hoping that the plants will recover. It is still raining and more forecast (heavy) throughout the day. It is good to feel cooler and more comfortable but it still took me a long time to get to sleep, and I woke at intervals through the night, finally getting up at 4. Now it is just a nice temperature and I have the windows open for lovely, rainy air.
I came down to find a glass upside down on the sitting room floor, with a wasp trapped underneath. I have dealt with the wasp but somehow you might think the wasp trapper could have done that.
I hope that everyone has as good a day as possible, and am thinking of those who are unwell or worried.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone and thanks for the start Holly, hope you have managed a few more hours sleep.
It’s much cooler here today and we are forecasted a lot more rain, the lawn is already showing signs of recovery although the high winds yesterday have bought down a lot of the little green apples off the tree
Not a lot planned for today, general pottering and will probably watch the last stage of the tour.
Enjoy your Sunday, hugs to all poorlies or those with worries and cares, take care folks x0 -
Morning
Well we are back to a true British summer again. Lets hope not for long. One good thing it might be enough to stop us having to have a hose pipe ban but then who needs hosepipes when its persisting it down all the time. Shame really an outdoor fair/market I was going to mooch around today will be a wash out now. Anyway I have been lazy and bunged the baskets on the lawn to get a soaking...they don't catch any rain where they are hung. Hope the wind drops though or my lovely neighbours across the close will become the new owners
Cant get excited at the prospect of been able to clean the house more because its cooler Im afraid. Do have some work to prep so think Ill crack on with that instead.
AOD maybe there was some in depth wasp experiment going on which you have spoiltMy issue atm is those horrid little fruit flies so the vinegar and apple is out and I have had a good catch overnight.
Anyway have a good sunday all and enjoy the rain0 -
Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. I didn't sleep any better for the cooler weather either but that's 'cos of all the worries going round and round in my head. The novelty of rain has now worn off and I would like the sun back again now, just not quite as hot. We haven't had the thunder and lightening lots have had thankfully, just steady away rain.
No plans for today, just the same old same old, but I should really tackle some jobs that have been put on hold through the heatwave if I CBA. But maybe I will just get my feet up with my book instead.
I had a bit of good news yesterday amongst all the bad. The friend who was planning to move near her family in York has changed plans. They have sold their house subject to contract in record time but have decided to stay hereabouts instead as not been able to see anything in their price range near York. So now house hunting round here! She is just happy to be moving away from the neighbourhood she is in as it's getting quite unsociable.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all who need/want them. CSARINA hope DH is soon on the mend and back home. GERS I hope DM continues to make steady progress. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -

So far, so bliss
We went for a walk in the end, the rain stopped and it stayed nice and cool. It looked like it could rain again at any moment so we didn't go far, just ambled up and down the little roads and alleyways. It rained on and off all day and we had a bit of thunder at teatime.
After reading some of your posts I saw sense and realised that Netflix and soft feet was the way to go, lol. I have a plan for some of the junk in my room, I've put some empty boxes in there but didn't touch anything, I'll make a start next week.
It's raining and is quite breezy at the moment, I hope it stays like this all day. The rain's not too heavy so we'll go out for a while. I've hung a load of towels on the line, that's my housework for todayMore telly watching will be done and it's cool enough to do a few more rows on my blanket. Miss tru is home today so I'll see if she wants to watch a film later.

Morning All
The sun has been shining this morning but it's getting cloudy now, we are due more rain for the rest of the day. Yesterday was showery until about 5 then it belted down for hours!
Someone nearby was having a party outside I think and the music was very, very loud. I had to close all the windows when I went to bed, goodness knows what time it all finished, thought they would have been rained off but they must have been wearing wetsuits!
DD's birthday today so going to meet her, her BF and DS1 later for lunch. I'll call at the garden centre on my way to see if I can get some leeks for the allotment.
Talking of the allotment I picked 12 courgettes yesterday! They weighed 2kg altogether so I made some chutney, it tastes amazing but will be better for being left for a couple of weeks.
Hope everyone is well this morning, hugs to all especially Gers, Csarina and TA. Take care. XX0 -
Morning all
for the thread Holly and hugs to all those in need.
It's raining steadily here so I don't think we will be going anywhere today, we've made it to Kintbury, only another 25ish locks to go and then a few miles without any until we get to the Caen Hill Flight.
I may try to speak to the people/person on the next boat today, they were running their engine for hours yesterday and had their log burner lit, I'm worried in case someone is unwell, I'm not bothered about the noise.
CHS want's to watch the Hungarian GP highlights but there is no TV signal here fortunately he can watch in on my pc.
AOD, that reminds me of a neighbour I once had who told me he came home from a week away to find 11 upturned glasses in his house as his wife was scared of spiders. I arranged to visit daily next time he went away to dispose of the spiders.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning folks.
Yesterday evening and overnight a gale raged here in Glasgow, all is calm now.
DM continues to be very weak and only manages to walk to the bathroom and back with support. For what she calls 'pennies' she uses the commode. I'm still worried about her and feel this is the end of her independent life. The district nurse is coming again tomorrow morning for bloods, after that I'll call the doc again.
Yesterday an old friend met up with me for a coffee and chat, think he helped save my sanity! He's the first friend I've spoken to for ages. Apart from a quick chat with work colleagues last week I've not spoken to anyone other than DM, medics or shop staff for over a month now. Funny how one short half hour helps!
I'm expecting a delivery from A mazone today, seems their logistics team are out on Sundays in larger cities. I lost my lovely tiny Swiss Army knife the other day and miss it. I took it off my key ring for something or other and it's gone.
Great news TA, every little thing helps.
Thoughts still with csarina and MrC.
I wish everyone a happy Sunday.0 -
Morning everyone
hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH and myself up enjoying first cuppas and brekkie. Both boys still in their pits, DS1 went out last night and rolled in at 3am, so not sure when he will surface and DS2 still asleep.
We had rain and a blustery wind into yesterday morning - the rain then stopped and we had sunny spells - now it's dry and blustery still, but rain forecast again in a while.
Dinner last night was pizza, hot quiche, chips and salad. Roast pork for today with all the trimmings.
We'll be going to visit the parents this morning, I think my bro and SIL are visiting.
I did spend some time yesterday afternoon arranging my new cupboard, nearly finished. I then have to sort out the remaining items on the dining room table, the porch, but before any of that need to source a new WM or organise to rent one. Not sure which way to go - it'll depend on cost and availability. It'll get sorted.
Feeling less fed up today, got a reasonable night's sleep in the much cooler conditions, but DH whining about getting a WM sorted. Yes it needs sorting but both sets of parents have said we can use their WM if needed and there's 2 laundrette's within a 2-3 mile radius that I have used both before = not a problem.
Today will be a bit of a chill day - pottering about and getting stuff done.
Keep safe and well x
