  • I think the Lantern ones will be the last to go as they're ones I can settle for around half the balance when I have enough to do so, and there's in interest as they're old defaulted accounts so I can save money if I leave them :)
  • Hurrah! Definitely something to celebrate.
Well done you. Bask in that glory for a day or two - then on to tackle the next!
  • Thank you :D

I am going to treat myself a smidge next month from my spare cash, to a new pair of running trainers.
I haven't run since January when I was running a few times a week, doing parkrun etc, kept me sane.
I started getting pain in my foot and have seen a sports injury guy a few times but we can't do much until after my 100km walk when I can focus solely on looking after my foot sensibly again.
Anyway, I'm fairly sure its tendonitis so doing a few things that are supposed to help with that, but noticed in a pair of my Adidas shoes the other day they pinch a lot on my injured foot to the point it hurts my big toe a lot, and now paying attention to that foot more in everyday shoes, it seems all of my shoes are a bit small on that foot, so I have decided to go up a size in shoes which means running trainers too.

The good news is a friend from a running club can get 50% off a website, so getting a £55.00 pair of trainers (cheapest nice ones in my size) for £27.50 :) I'd call that MSE as they will be necessary for free exercise that keeps me sane :rotfl:
  • I'd say that is definitely a good use of your money. It's so important to wear the right shoes when running to avoid injuries. Plus, significantly cheaper than joining a gym. Good news on the discount too. :D

Running is how I keep my sanity as well. I'm asking for money for my birthday so that I can buy a new pair of trainers. Similar to you I was running a lot earlier in the year but slowed down because it got too flipping hot. Hoping the cooler weather will make me more motivated.

All the best and enjoy your treat. I think you deserve it.
  • I agree about preferring to run in cooler weather, I'm just gutted I missed all of the race series my running club did that I joined too late to try last year!

Just did an OP of £5.25 to MyJar loan and it reduces the instalment that comes out on the 31st.. so must remember to pay the additional £5.25 alongside the reduced instalment so that I've still actually paid extra.. what a pain. Was hoping it would just come off the total...
  • Well that's the first direct debit gone out for the month... £72.35 to MyJar which is the monthly payment that was reduced due to my OP the other day + the extra to cover that OP + the £15 that used to go onto CC2.

At the moment on my statement those extra payments have reduced the final payment to £10.34, my cost to settle today would be £115.43 and I wish I was in a position to do that but it's OH's birthday this month! However, I think with any OP's I make and if I wait an extra month to increase the DD to CC3, I can clear the MyJar loan next payday and save myself three payments. At the minute with the 3 full payments and the reduced payment at the end I will be paying £166.64 so I will use this as the current balance for now. It shouldn't go up too much with OP's cancelling out any interest that goes on this month. How exciting, that this debt will be gone in a month if all goes to plan!

Excitingly too I'll have £50 in savings with the Credit Union this month :rotfl: not a massive amount but it is a start!

I'm glad to hear you're excited about paying them off and you're doing so well. Just remember this good feeling so when you have a bad day and are tempted to unnecessarily spend you can ask yourself if its really worth it. You'll be debt free in no time!
