Rounded up my £3 reward from Halifax to £5 and made another OP to the MyJar loan..
Have found something online that I should be able to around my normal work if I pass the tests, will say what if I managed to start it, but I could be bringing in a little extra every month to help pay down the debt quicker! It'll mean doing some extra work at home or on my lunch hour, but short of another job which is hard to fit around my current one, it's the best I can do!0 -
Also - i think that I have decided, that I'm going to overpay CC1 as opposed to CC3. CC3 may have a marginally higher interest rate, but CC1 is definitely costing me more in interest each month purely just down to the balance - CC3 really has never been more than about £10 in interest whereas CC1 is around £35 per month as it stands.
Knocking down a small debt is motivating but I think seeing the balance on CC1 going to less than four figures is equally motivating, so I will be putting the extra onto that DD as opposed to CC3.0 -
Done some small little finance jobs today - cancelled my life insurance for now, it's not a suitable product that I need at this stage in my life, I think I only signed up for a voucher! Will re-instate when it's really needed & finances are better.
I also cashed out £2.03 sat in a post office savings account :rotfl: I was never really impressed with it and its better spent off a debt than in an account I don't use!0 -
Well done on your "little and often" approach. That must be such a help to keep you motivated?
Once I've done my payday money shuffle I don't really make any more impact on the debt over the course of the month...but at least it's not going up!
And you really are leaving no stone unturned in your debt busting. You'll be there in no time0 -
Thank you - I think it definitely helps after I've made the normal payments to make the extra payments through the month even if they are tiny - helps to see the total continuously going down
I have now paid the £2 from my PO account to the MJ loan which about covers the accruing interest since my last payment :rotfl:0 -
I've already been very early in trying to make Christmas easier for next year. This year is going to have to be a budget Christmas, I am undoubtedly going to be buying things in sales or cheap shops but I can't afford an expensive one with this debt so that's life..
I was reading a thread on here about budgeting for Christmas and have used Park before but did not realise they have a Mastercard option, as I struggled with the vouchers last year when I used them.
I've just set up a DD for £36 each month to end next September to receive a card loaded with £400 - that's most of my budgeting for next Christmas sorted! I have enough to accommodate the £36 DD each month, especially if it means that it's a load off my shoulders next year0 -
Been quiet for a while, went off to London on Saturday for a 100km charity walk, proud to have completed it, but not something I'm likely to do again anytime soon! Tears of relief were definitely shed at the finish line :rotfl:
We ended up going to bed at the hotel at 6pm on the Sunday after getting up at 4.30 am on the Saturday, lounged once we got home on Monday and I had another day of lounging yesterday to rest my feet and legs before coming back to work today...
If there's one thing this walk has done, it's make me totally comfortable with sorting out blisters on my feet :rotfl:
Paid an OP to MJ today of £3.75, it will cost me not a lot after my next instalment to settle I think, it says around £93 at the moment, and due to have a £52.10 payment so won't cost a lot after that comes out
OH has a milestone birthday on Monday, so Saturday we have a surprise dinner with his family who will be travelling up, then on Sunday we are going to a hotel with a half spa day booked for the Monday, then back home to have dinner with his kids. Saturday will be manic with collecting the cake in the morning and inflating the balloons etc and trying to transport those 30 miles to the restaurant with no issues (it's the cake im most worried about - any tips welcome?!), decorating, then going over to OH's until it's time to go back to the restaurant for dinner :rotfl:0 -
Well done on the walk
100km  I can't imagine how proud you must have felt!! How did you manage the blisters?
Well done on all the little payments. They really do add up!
OH birthday sounds like it will be really, really fun! Spa sounds lovely. Not sure about the cake.. maybe just sit it on the floor and hope for the best?Total Debt : ?? / ??0 -
We did quite a few training walks so thankfully I'd learnt where I was likely to get blisters and padded them out as best as I could, only really came away with ones on my little toes that only really required popping last night when I needed to be able to walk properly/flat in my works shoes today and one small one on the back of each heel
OH suffered much worse, I think as he did most of his training in trainers and switched to his walking boots for the walk. Both the backs of his heels were one huge blister (about 3-4 inches) and he had quite a few on the balls of his feet bless him
I thought the spa would be nice a week after a hard walk, with time to chill :rotfl:
I think it'll either be on the floor or try and strap it in on the passenger seat somehow :rotfl: I might cry if it gets ruined en route!0 -
Cake transporting needs to be in the footwell behind the passenger seat, then set the passenger seat to a point where the cake is slightly wedged with not much forward or backward movement. A limp pillow or blanket/sleeping bag/child sized duvet is good for putting to the side of the cake to reduce side to side movement.
Hope this helps.
