Help with bill of £2,300

To be honest I don't know! I think its something to do with the 3g on newer phones being 'always on' and data is only downloaded when it is actually used. Plus, on payg its exactly that, payg so you would need to know how much you have used straight away. There are probably more advanced data billing than o2's, we used to only download our data on the 6th of every month (and it was a month behind!) but now we do it every 24 hours..:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin0

Heh ok
Just thought it'd make sense for them to employ the same data billing techniques as they do on PAYG.
off topic - Since you work for o2 - is it possible that my PAYG SIM isn't 3g compatible? Upgraded my handset and don't seem to get 3g reception in an area I know I should.0 -
Unlikely - but where did you get the new handset? Is it a PAYG handset or someones old contract one? Also, what services are you looking to use? And finally, you can check that you definetely do get 3g coverage in your area by going to http://www.webmap.o2.co.uk/?Search=Search. You can send me a pm if you want:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin0

Bought it from Carphone Warehouse - brand new and unlocked/unbranded. (Sony Ericsson K800i)
Shows no indication of 3G reception at all. One of my friends has one, also on o2, using the supplied PAYG SIM and it does + makes video calls etc. (I was more interested in some high speed internet access though)
Checker shows that I can get 3G coverage in the area I'm referring to0 -
3 weeks - £3 per MB (I guess) - £2300 - 766mb?!!
What the hell was he downloading
did he use it as a modem to a PC ?Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -

It might be automatically set to 2g coverage. I'm not in work at the mo and so can't quite remember the key strokes of how to do it, but you can change the settings yourself.. I'm sure its.. Menu.. Settings... Connectivity.. Network Operators... Make sure it is set to automatic and there should also be a part in there to choose 3g and not 2g.:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin0 -
Thanks, I'll try that
Not actually in the area that provides 3G coverage at the moment, lol.
(The coverage indicator shows that there is small blocks of 3G spread around here... strange:D)0 -

Was your son using is as a modem for a laptop?
Is it an N95 and he was using the sat nav? Or downloading games/music?:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin0
