I can't believe after the Chris Huhne case how another MP would think they could get away with this

Does give an idea of the entitled untouchableness people seem to assume when they enter the House :(

Well they aren't going to be going easy on her when it comes to sentencing - if found guilty of course...

But they can't find her guilty because everyone knows MPs never lie.

She may have mis-spoken, or possibly even inadvertently given a false impression of the matters at hand, but lie? Never!;)

One of the things I've noticed about the modern politicians is that no matter what qualifications they may have clocked up in university, they rarely if ever seem to have a grasp of the subjects once they start working in politics (and many never seem to have actually used their qualifications in a job).

Which is part of the reason you end up with a bunch of people with legal qualifications who don't appear to understand the most basic parts of the law*, and create laws that have massive loopholes and flaws because they've not registered how important the phrasing and punctuation is for the legal system.

I may not like a lot of the older school politicians from 10-20 years ago (pre Blair) but at least a lot of them had real world experience rather than aiming to be an MP practically from their first serious conversations about "what sort of job do you want?".

Utter idiots to lie over something as silly as a speeding offence that the chances are no one would have cared about if they'd been honest.

*The ones that get me are those that go on about changing the law so you can defend yourself, something that has been enshrined as a basic principle for hundreds of years, or those that can't understand the concept of aggravating circumstances.

Really? She hasn't even been tried yet, let alone found guilty.
