  • Hi all

I got back from Florida last week. I took around $800 in currency and my Abbey Zero card. Now I didn't plan very well and just used the card over there, forgetting I had the money too. Now I'm back with a card bill to pay and $700 I need to use to pay it!

What is the best way of exchanging it back to Sterling? I've asked everyone I know and no one is planning the US any time soon and won't buy it, and I've been stung by Ebay and others before so i'd prefer normal routes if possible - is it best just to take it back to ICE and M&S where I got it from originally?? I've been looking on the ICE site and they don't mention buying back, although M&S does, but they don't give a rate until you phone or visit a store. I could really do with a currency converter tool which works backwards too!!!! Help!

Remember even though the rate was say 1.80 when you bought them, and may still be 1.80 for purchases, they will only buy them back at say 2.00. You wont get much more than £350 for $700.

Now people realise how poor the US economy really compared to the UK and the dollar has weakened again.

It depends where you think the next bad news will come from, over here or over there.

And today we even it up a bit and its dropped again. £1.80 nearly now.
  • Is the dollar likely to drop again against the pound do you think? I need to get about $US 500 and 3000 Botswana Pula by the end of the month. The only places I've found online that stocks both is Post office or nationwide and post office came out tops but their rates on both have got worse compared to last week..

£311.11 for $560 delivered @ an exchange rate of US - Dollar Notes 1.8000. I just couldn't wait any longer to see if ther rate would change in my favour, I know it's only a few quid but we all want max value. I got the rate through - https://www.currency-express.com/currencyexpress/

Congress just rejected the bail out... so who knows what's going to happen!!! I bought last week and got 1.84, it dropped the next day so I think I timed it just right.
  • The pound dropped 3 cents against the dollar tonight
