I don't understand the rates here as I was in the Post Office today and they were only offering $1.46 to the £. Are these just trading figures you are posting here or what you can actually obtain as curreny for going away with, and where would you get these rates?
yes they are the actual market trading levelsPlease take the time to have a look around my Daughter's website www.daisypalmertrust.co.uk

You can never get the trading rate as a companies selling rate. You might get close though. Normally on average I find it anything from 1-4 cents lower than the trading rate and of course how much $ your actually buying.
This is a good place to start to find the best rates

I took a wee punt today and bought from TMS for end May delivery at 1.4952. I genuinely cant see it being much more than that in 9 weeks time anyway.0

I still haven't swapped any cash over. The rate for £10k on the website I use for TorFX is wrong. They do different rates for different amounts. I only want to swap that much at the mo as it seems to be pointing to a higher value later in the month / year.
Bit pi55ed off with them actually. They are obviously giving out the wrong rate so might just have to go with a firm that are a little more honest up front.0 -
05:31 GMT - [GBP/USD] started the session this morning at 1.5120 rising to an intraday high around 1.5140 on the back of better than expected UK BRC retail sales coming in at +4.6% y/y vs f/c of -0.5% whiile the RICS hpb came in at -59.9 vs f/c of -70. However, the strong data was not enough to keep the pair from slipping to a low of 1.5073 filling buying orders at the 1.5075 level as Asia/Pacific stock markets started the session on the backfoot. However, a better than expected data out of China which has given the stock market a fillip also gave the pair a prop as it climbed back above the 1.5100 handle to currently trade at 1.5125. Further movements are likely to be muted ahead of a slew of UK economic data. Please take the time to have a look around my Daughter's website www.daisypalmertrust.co.uk

"If I am unable to raise my drawbridge then I face the very real possibility of working class people coming into my castle and striking up awkward, stilted conversations while furtively stuffing the pockets of their smelly duffel coats with great handfuls of the pheasant pat! that they have so very kindly paid for."
