Can I brave it out for 8 weeks? I've secured $1.50 on TMS this evening.. I secured $1.56 on Crown a couple of months ago but pulled the order due to being nervous they might go bump and lose my money. Its not been at $1.50 for ages so gone for it again and my nerves will be in tatters until 3rd May .... aaarrrgghh I hate this damn recession!!!

Thats not a bad rate though Izzy, if you have made a decison then try not to worry. I left it to the last minute, could have bought more at 1.52, had to settle for 1.4375 today on my Fairfx card. So waiting till the end does not always work. Why don't you apply for the Abbey Zero card which Martin mentions on MSE, then you can put your spending on there if the rate does not improve. Just think you could be like me, when we booked it was 1.81 and I asked DH shall I get the dollars now? He said it will go up when Obama gets in and i have watched it steadily fall grrrrrrr...........He is still coming on holiday (just about!)

Does anyone know how I can find out what rate Abbey uses in USD to convert purchases on their cards, I realise it changes daily but do they publish it anywhere? Thank you

    Mr Fish, I despair!! ;)

The next time someone posts in a forum "Where can I stroke a cow". Put it in to that and post the link

    :j  :j :T

sorry Blinky, but either i'm having a major sense of humour failure, or something is going way over my head here!!

yes, i get that its a pi55 take on people that ask stupid questions (which is very funny), but as far as i can tell it searches exactly the same as your everyday bog standard Google search
Please take the time to have a look around my Daughter's website www.daisypalmertrust.co.uk
    (MSE Andrea says ok!)

It doesn't do the same as a Google search, it does a Google search, it is purely to take the pi55. have a beer instead

Seems fairly stable at $1.45 now (according to the BBC)

I read about the card on this website - Martin Lewis has been recommending it for some time, and everything recommended on this website seems to be throughly checked. Think its backed by newcastle BS or something and theres guarantees as to their security. I got two with no worries as I knew people who had them over a year ago for a holiday. It was easy to top up whenever required (max of twice a day) so we bought a little at a time then loaded the final lot today. Will be taking currency as well but not TC as I understand they are not so acceptable as they were.

Thats what happens, im going to order a little from TMS now. I fancy anything around 1.50 will be good for the summer.

They're quoting $1.5120 at Crown Currency for delivery October onwards.

I gritted my teeth months ago and ordered through Crown - almost pulled out for fear of losing my money but it arrived spot on time yesterday. Breathed a sigh of relief, but I would have no hesitation in using them again or recommending them.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
