I've kept away for the last week as I couldn't bear to watch, but I've had a quick peek this morning and all is good. I've got 6 more days so just hoping that it keeps pushing higher.

Neil - how do you get to mystery shop hotels, what a brilliant thing to do, how cool is that.

LOL, I waiting for the news that the gov have decided to let all first time buyers have a 95% mortgage at 4% but will prob. see a pig fly over my house before that happens! Even with us offering to stand as guarantors for our daughter and SIL its not possible grrrrrrrr.
sorry folks off topic, I will think of a song to express my "concern" about the situation if you like!
hi haziec, some companies do still do 95% mortgages. also, there is this scheme i read about for first time buyers, its called easy buy or something like that. basically, its mainly for new build developments. but it means you don't need a deposit. the home builder puts down 25% deposit for you, then you have to pay them back the 25% before 10 years is up. so you could move house before then and then pay them back, or remortgage to release some equity in it. i've been looking into it for a crest nicholson house. the link is attached for the details. hope this helps. there is loads of schemes for first time buyers at the moment. you just need to speak to a decent mortgage advisor. What area are you from in the UK? http://www.crestnicholson.com/FindAHome/easybuy.aspx

we've all got our fingers crossed.
started last year when my golf club asked a company to get a mystery customer for them. i received a letter, replied saying i'd do it, and did it! got my subs paid for a month (£79) and £10 to spend in the bar and shop.
heard nothing till a couple of weeks back and was asked to do a couple more visits.
so i'm off to a posh hotel tonight. the misses is very jealous. it's actually the place we stopped after our UK british party (got married in france).
but my memory of that night is a little cloudy... it was world cup 2006. england v portugal... misses had ordered a bottle of champers for the room pre-party. she got held up so guess who drunk it all watching the footy!
i would put the name of the hotel up, but you never know who's watching!
i'm only getting £15 for it. but hey, i get a slap up meal and hammered for nothing :)

hotels are easy. i travel for 6 months of the year so write revirews all the time as you can see on tripadvisor (same username!).

this is the website for the mystery customer. they are advertising for people countrywide.

Thanks for this Neil, I have just submitted my details as a potential mystery shopper. I live in Hampshire and that is one of the areas they are looking for so hopefully they might give me a go.

Thank you Jonathan, they have actually applied to one of those gov schemes after being provisionally accepted. Trouble is its a "fight" to get an allocation from what is a small pot of money from the gov. so I'm being pessimistic and thinking could we help them if they don't get the loan?
I will keep the link from the new buy thanks, and good luck to you with your housebuy;)
