13:12 11Mar09-UK Gilt futures rise, stg little moved on BoE auction
LONDON, March 11 - UK government bond futures rose, while sterling was little changed against the dollar on Wednesday after a Bank of England reverse gilt auction, marking the first installment of its quantitative easing programme.

The total amount of purchases in the 2 billion sterling operation was alloted to competitive bids [nLAC003152]. The bank will spend a total of 75 billion pounds buying assets to breathe life into the economy after slashing rates to 0.5 percent.

The June long gilt future <FLGM9> was 16 ticks higher at 124.15, having traded as much as 30 ticks higher on the day after the announcement. Gilt futures had been flat prior to the results of the auction.

Yields on ten-year benchmark gilts <GB10YT=RR> fell to trade 2 basis points lower at 3.09 percent, while sterling was little changed against the dollar at $1.3824 <GBP=>, having hit a six week low earlier.

mate, i wish i could put a number on that for you!

from all the info we are fed, surely we would have to deduce that its pretty much as low as its gonna go  , but the way the market is reacting to any kind of news lately is not having any rhyme or reason to it!

if i could be bold, i would suggest somewhere around 1.45 would be realistic, in about 6weeks, but in reality, who knows
