Good retail sales, but bad jobless claims

Cable has immediately risen to 1.4240, but give it a chance to settle...

With the spectre of quantitative easing in the UK looming ever nearer, what will this mean for the pound v the dollar, considering America has already begun this process?

Is it likely the pound will dip further against the dollar or will the fact that the US are doing it make little difference?

What I'm trying to ask, and I'm hoping Inspector Monkfish can advise, is do you still think the pound will get back up to 1.50/1.60?

Or do you think that the effects of quantitative easing will be a lot worse here than in the States?

thats what i can't get my head round !!
if we are both getting involved with a bit of QE therapy, then we should cancel each other out!

i guess it depends on who has the biggest money printer !!

in my opinion, yes somewhere around 1.55 would be a fair rate, and i still personally expect to see this by the end of Feb

  • Thanks, yes I'm hoping the fact that the US are doing it will mean we will be on a par with them.

I just wish Obama was our PM - instead of Gormless Brown.

Fingers crossed for your 1.55 predictions - I will be in the States for a month from next week.
