UK figures just released show that there were more mortgages approved than expected, and alot more mortgages lent - 1.9billion in Dec, compared to 0.75billion in Nov (this is over 3 times a reuters survey, that actually predicted it would fall to 0.6billion)

this shows some confidence is coming back to the housing market

Cable has rocketed up to 1.4340, purely on the back of this info.
It is mounting a serious attack on this important level, and if it breaks through and stays there, we could be heading for the 1.4475 level

high for the week so far is 1.4411 (yesterday afternoon)

that's good information! for the £ and for the prospects of selling my house :)
i'm sure there will be another run at the next level shortly... i can feel it in my hungover head

there are more important US figures due at 1.30pm today
to do with Employment costs and GDP
so it may sit steady until then around the 1.4280 to 1.4300 level

    Merry Christmas MSE!
  • Updates are great, i've been watching the currency for a while now firstly becasue i go to the states every year but im intrigued as to how it all works now.

IM will the Honda announcement on cease of manufacturing for 4 months have any bearing on the market?

not really - well it certainly doesn't appear to have had any effect

poor car sales is more a worldwide problem, plus the markets kind of knew about this already, and would have had it all factored in

that news really was no surprise to the markets

sorry, but you will get nowhere near that level now

around 1.40 is best on the high street at mom

in my opinion, (for what its worth) if you hang on, the nearer you get to May, you will probably get somewhere nearer to 1.55-1.60 level

of course, it could go lower than 1.40......

Anyone know a good place/rate for exchanging leftover holiday Dollars back to Sterling? Got about $300 which I don't want to just leave sitting around.

    I'll give you £200 for them :)

Other than that I have no valuable input in to the questions :)
