Oddly some ghosts in my past have inadvertently popped up into the forefront of my thoughts, and the result of that is that I have to make a decision about my house. I'd already decided I was going to decorate and get work done, and I need a plan.
I'm going to get the boiler fixed first as that's important if I stay or sell. The windows can wait, although I do need to replace one door and get the porch fixed. I also need to either decorate or really spruce the house and this is where the definite decisions need to be made. If I stay I'll decorate and if I leave I'll spruce. So what's it to be? Based on how often I say I'll leave, I think that's got to be the plan. The issue is that I don't know where I want to live as I have no definite direction in that respect. I don't yet want to downsize and need the next place I buy to remain within decent property price rises.
I'm thinking that as long as I find a place with a decent journey into London then I can't go far wrong. I've written off the idea of a flat in the City for so many reasons. So I have to invest some research time in what to buy and where. I doubt I'll get a mortgage for some time now, based on work changes, but that's not a bad thing for me.
So lots to think about for 2019. It's lovely making plans though.

Looks like you are going to have an exciting 2019 Mt
One good thing for you , is that you drive . So, you do have more of a choice . However, with our mare of London , driving in London looks to be getting sooo expensive ..
Maybe when you do the things that are needed in your home , you'll feel comfortable there and if you do decide to move , you'll do so when you feel the time is right and you would have already done what is necessary .
Where to move if you do ? Possibly not too far from friends ,and a happyish commute if possible ?
The housing market is confused at the moment ( not in a good way),because of the Brexit uncertainty .
I should have someone to look at my radiators tomorrow / Thursday
These rads don't have the usual spot on the top for a rad key for bleeding . Sounds like it could be a powerflush ,which won't be cheap by the sound of it .. All part and parcel of life I guess :rotfl:0 -
Hello AC. I definitely agree with the things I need to think about when moving. To be honest, I always come back to moving so I think I should commit to that, but I do need to consider the commute and being near friends too.
How did your rad check go? Was a powerflush needed? I'll have a read of your diary soon to check what's happening in your life the past few days.0 -
Happy 2019 everyone.
I'm currently sitting here typing this with Jools Holland in the background waiting for midnight so I can get to bed, once the main bulk of fireworks have stopped.
I've set my bullet journal up so I'm feeling organised. Need to make sure I keep that going. I'm not using it as a diary though this time because I tend to keep my appointments online so that I get reminders. It's also easy to just open the calendar on my phone as I make appointments.
I haven't yet come up with any solid goals for 2019 but will do that in the next few days so I have something to keep referring to. The title of this diary is still very much appropriate so I'll keep this diary, but will probably edit my first post to make referring back easy.
I hope everyone has had a fantastic festive period and a very happy new year. Here's to more successes in 2019.

Hello MT
Hope you have a great 2019 .
It seems that you have a lot of things already in place and some things that will be sorted as and when they occur. ( if that makes any sense:rotfl:)
You seem to have had a fairly good year in 2018 from what I can tell.
Let's hope this year is even better .
Me ? I have had another New Year's Eve at home . I used to celebrate but got fed up being disoriented and ill going home . Supposed I have kinda grown up :rotfl:
I didn't call the boiler people . I'll do that on Thursday . With trades people I think it's best to be a bit more laid back over the Christmas break . Hopefully , they'll appreciate that and not charge me too much
I was thinking of doing another diary . Unsure. In a nutshell ,I've had 2 great years . I don't do resolutions anymore , but we know that I have to lose more weight, get off the prednisolone by Easter and hopefully find a job . Not asking for much :rotfl:
I m gonna go on my diary then go to sleep via my audiobook...0 -
Hello MT, don't know how I missed your diary but glad to have found you now!

Happy New Year to all. I hope you all welcomed 2019 in your own unique way. I wish you all a very happy, healthy and successful year.
I'm now back to my part time hours so only working 3 longer days a week and off every Monday and Friday. That suits me so much better.
I meant to bring in all of my bank details today to go through a new YNAB for 2019 but forgot that particular device. Never mind, I'll bring it tomorrow.
I've still not come up with any specific goals either, but haven't really had a chance to think of anything as I also need a plan of getting to that goal and I don't want to just knee jerk a decision. My house is my priority as is travel, So it'll be along those lines.
Today is my first long day in the office (10 hours) and I'm already tired. While we're waiting for the new company to merge with (take over!!!) we've been told we aren't allowed to do anything and that just makes the days drag by. We will be losing all of our emails next month to an archive, so I think this week will involve going through those.
It is nice to be back to a routine now as I feel that Christmas and New Year can through things off kilter for a while. I doubt that feeling will last very long and I'll be yearning for more off kilter time.

Hello Rosa,
I'm so glad you found me. Happy New Year to you too.

Hello AC and Happy New Year to you too.
I think I did manage to achieve more than I expected to in 2018 but health issues also got in the way. I'm really working on my health so hopefully 2019 won't include any more of those barriers.
I'll pop across to your diary in a second and reply more there.0 -
Congrats on working part time. I used to take Monday's and Fridays off too. Long weekend each week
Hope you managed to find a good solution to your house problem. We used to live in London 30 years ago but made the move to the West Country. How far off retirement are you? Is it possible to hold off moving until you no longer need to work? You get so much more for your money outside London and South East. Mind you with Brexit who knows how that will affect the housing market.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards.
