Feeling really annoyed with myself. I've just been charged a £12 late payment fee on my cc as I was too keen and made this months payment a day early . I've emailed them and pleaded with them to remove the charge but I'm not holding out much hope.0

Happened to me in May. I was on holiday and didn't pick up that my payments had got out of cycle as I was overpaying.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉0

Which Lenders ?
In many cases, If this is the first time happen. There is a good chance they will refund you. Call them and be apologetic.
Contact them immediately before they report this late payment to the CRAs. Once it has been reported, it is very hard to remove hard.0 -
It was the M&S card that DH uses for fuel. So annoying as I pay it off in full every month, but on this occasion was a day too early. I contacted them as soon as I realised and am just waiting for a response. They are usually quite quick.
I've decided that we will stop using this card for fuel and will cancel it once this months balance has been cleared. I've ordered an extra card for my NewDay account (that I use for grocery shopping) and DH will use this for fuel, then all the spends will be in the same place and be paid on the same day. The NewDay app is much more simple to use and they send me notifications when payments are due and when I'm close to limits etc, so I won't make the same mistake again.0 -

I was naughty yesterday. I spent £15 on a bottle of booze. In my defence it came from my money box (so no damage to the bank balance), supported a local business, and made delicious mint choc chip cocktails to drink in the sun.

It's been a spendy few days - mostly planned as it was DHs birthday. We had a rare night away, lovely evening meal and spa treatments all saved and budgeted for. DH announced on the morning we were going that his shoes had worn through, so we made a diversion en route to get him some new shoes and I also bought 2 new dresses. Pots have been adjusted accordingly so there's minimal damage to the bank balance.
DH has hinted about plans for my birthday in October and I'm a bit concerned about how much he plans to spend. I've not budgeted anything for my own birthday so will need to keep an eye on him. I know it's foolish on my part not to budget anything, but it doesn't seem right planning to spend on myself.
Kids back to school this week and this is the time I start to think about planning for Christmas. I've had a look through my present cupboard this morning and was pleased that there was more in there than I though, and lots of items I'd forgotten about. I've currently got £41.29 in Christmas savings, £5 amazon vouchers, £11 M&S and £23 Tesco. I'm also close to cashing out £10 from TCB and £5 PA. I've got plenty of cards and gift wrap from last years sales. I'll only really be buying for DH and the children, and I'm planning a few homemade gifts for my parents and in laws. Blackberry liqueur, peppermint creams and spicy chutney are on my list so far. I was hoping to pick some more blackberries this morning, but the weather looks like it's about to turn. We're lucky to have a community orchard nearby which also has apples, pears and plums, so I may plan something to make with those too.0 -
We managed to get out before the rain and picked just enough blackberries to make the liqueur. I've frozen them for now though until I get round to making it. The hotel we stayed in left complementary water in the room in lovely glass bottles with screw lids. So I brought the empty bottles home and will use those to gift the blackberry liqueur to my parents and in laws. Then what I have left for myself can go in any old bottle.
I need to source some jars for jams and chutneys. After a bit more research I've decided on blackberry and pear jam, spiced apple chutney, and maybe spicy tomato chutney.
We've done quite a lot of work to tidy up the garden this summer and I'm hoping to start growing my own fruit and veg next year. I'm also looking out for the best deals on spring bulbs. I'd like to plant daffodils, tulips and snowdrops. I really want to make the most of the space in our garden.0 -
Sounds lovely. I always like home made gifts, or gifts that don't cost a huge amount, but take some thought. Last ear I got my mum and dad some gorgeous chutneys, jams and tea from a shop my husband get discount with. They were muh appreciated and didn't cost a huge amount.
I have also begun some xmas lists for the kids!Debt free Feb 2021 🎉0
