    The collectible sold this morning :j:j so totals now look like:

    Hitachi - £8,562.93
    Barclaycard - £5,981.05
    FD - £7,187.50

    Total = £21,731.48

    Current savings total = £1477.31

    There's also an associated membership that can be cancelled for a refund, and a few accessories that can also be sold for around £20. All we need now is a job for DH.

    I've just noticed that it's just over a year since I started my diary. Looking at my figures, our debts have decreased by over £7,800 in the last year. If we continued at that rate we would be debt free within 3 years. I'm not sure how likely that is as we don't have any more big items to sell to boost our progress, but I'm setting myself a target of being debt free by July 2022. That means paying off just over £600 every month for the next 3 years. Our current minimum payments total £539, so providing DH finds a new job soon, that doesn't sound impossible.

    This week has been a bit up and down. DH is a bit annoyed with me because he thinks I should be overjoyed at his big sale today. I'm obviously happy that it's taken the pressure off a little, but can't help worrying about his current work situation. He's not worrying as although he's finished work now, he's technically still employed and has 2 weeks paid leave owed. I feel a bit unfair saying anything as he is actively looking for work, he just doesn't share my sense of urgency. Maybe I'm worrying unnecessarily, but I'd rather be prepared for the worst.

    I've not been back for a while! Sorry it's so stressful and scary him not being in work. Is the industry like that? As you say, he has two more weeks pay and he's doing his best to fix the problem in that time. It's just the situation that's frustrating. You have done well to build up a buffer too. I know its spoken for but you can always replace it from his next pay. Maybe it's time for him to ebay all of his things as you have.

    I'm jealous of how great you are with keeping your food spends so low.

    Keep going, you're doing so well xxxx

    Thanks Kitten.

    DH retrained two years ago and it's a difficult area to get into as employers only want people with experience. So he has had to accept temp work to get the experience. There's been a small glimmer of hope today but I won't say much until I know more tomorrow.

    DH has been offered his job back :j

    It’s a bizarre situation but he’s there for at least 3 months and will be trained in a new area which, if nothing else, gives him a new skill to add to his cv.

    Woohoo! Brilliant news! Some industries are so weird like that. It's easier to keep letting people go and get them back on a new contract/as a contractor.

    It's all working out great. Keep going! You'll be under £20k soon at this rate xxx

    Not the industry or the company to blame on this occasions, but an individual (DHs manager) who has had everything in life handed to him on a plate and thinks nothing of messing with other people's lives. DH went above him to the company owner who had been fed a lot of misinformation and thought DH had quit! Not a nice environment for him to go back to, but it will give him a new skill and a few months security.
