After a short stay in New York I am left with just under $400 on my Travelex multi currency card. Should I leave it there or withdraw that balance in sterling? Alternatively, if, for example I have another break in France, can I withdraw my cash there in euros?

Are you likely to be going back to America ?
If not then use the best option that would get you the most for your money.
Is this a Halifax clarity card ? Shouldn't be adding funds to a credit card.0 -
Not in the foreseeable future. Are you likely to be going back to America ?
How do I decide which are the best options? If not then use the best option that would get you the most for your money.

Well, using a company that went up the Swanee several years ago isn't really an option, is it?
Why not get this moved to the more appropriate Currency forum?0 -
This forum is just for people affected by crown currency. Moving to the correct forum

You say it's 'multicurrency' - does this card hold your money in pounds, or are they already converted to dollars. If the former you should be able to use it for euros without extra penalty, but probably not if it's the latter.
Check what it will cost to redeem your pounds if that's what you have on it. In future don't use such cards - it's likely cheaper to simply use your regular bank debit card or credit card, and you don't get stuck with leftover foreign currency.
Ideally use 'travel' credit card such as Clarity or Tandem, or Starling Bank etc, plenty of info in the MSE articles.Evolution, not revolution0
